Hannah had invited me to go to lunch with her which was a relief because I was starving. Amber was with some friends and they were walking home.

We stopped at a nice little café and got out of the car. "Hey I heard you got stuck being Toby Masterson's lab partner for science" she said while handing the cashier her money. "I'll pay for you I'm he one who invited you." "Thanks Hannah!"

We got our coffee and food and sat down at nice window seat looking out onto the town.
"Toby isn't that bad she actually kind of nic-" I was cut off. "Kayla! You weren't about to just say Toby is nice" she said staring at me.

" I don't get what the big deal is what he even do" I questioned. "Every time he's around something weird happens like he's got some kind of magical powers"

My body tensed up "w-w-what haha there's no such t-thing a magic ahaha that's crazy !" I couldn't catch my breath I felt like I was gonna pass out.

"We should go" I said fast grabbing my coffee and car keys heading for the door. "Hold on Kayla!" She shouted after me. We got in the car and she directed me to her house. "Hey are you okay?" She asked with a concerning tone.

"Who m-me, yea of course" I lied I just get real nervous when people mention magic you should see me on Halloween.

"My house is right there" she pointed to a big White House with black shudders and a big yard. "Your house is so nice and thanks for paying for coffee" "no problem and thanks" she said hugging me. She got out of the car and went into the house.

When I got home Amber was at the table doing homework and mom and dad were on the couch watching tv. My dad was 6"7 and had dark brown hair with hazel eyes.

"Hello honey" he said "how was your first day? I heard you made some friends" I smiled " yea I did" "I'm gonna go take a shower and go to sleep been a long day love you goodnight"

I went down stairs and hopped in the shower taking a longer one than usual. Letting the hot water run down my back. But no matter how long I stayed in the shower I couldn't stop thinking about Toby's ring could he be magic , what if he is should I tell him I'm magic?

I got out of the shower slipping into my pajamas putting my hair but Ina messy bun and crawling into bed. "Damn it I left the light on" I said quitely to myself I look at the light switch, concentrating and living my finger making the light turn off. "That's better" I said finally Turing on my side gently falling asleep.
