Skylar

"Sky, what's wrong? You've barely touched your dinner." My dad speaks up.

"I have a headache." I mutter.

"What are you trying to remember?" He sighs.

I've given up on trying to remember my forgotten past. When I was four, our house caught on fire. My mother and older brother died from smoke inhalation while I just lost my memory. All the years after that I've tried to remember things but I finally gave up since I was unsuccessful and it gives me big headaches.

When I met Hayes, something triggered something deep inside my mind.

"Nothing."

"Skylar, you can tell me anything."

"Dad, I'm fine."

"Okay, did you make any new friends today?" He asks suspiciously.

"No. I have homework." I excuse myself.

"Sky, you're acting wierd." Kim points out as we walk through the school doors.

"I'm sorry."

"Man, that new Hayes kid is a looker." Kim says cheerfully, "you think we'd be a cute couple?"

"I thought you were with Chris." I somewhat snapped, "I don't know, Kim. Why don't you talk to Hayes?"

"Oh my, he's coming." She whispers and my eyes widen.

"Hey, Skylar." Hayes greets me.

"Hey." I feel a small smile dance onto my face.

"I'm Kim." Kim pushes me back and gets really close to Hayes.

"Uh, I'm Hayes. Skylar, I was wondering if you'd want to see a movie with me tonight." He looks at me. Kim rolls her eyes.

"I'd love too but I need to ask my dad."

I've never had a boy ask me out somewhere. I bite my lip from smiling so much.

"Have fun, Sky." Kim storms off leaving me and Hayes.

"What's up with her?" He asks and I shrug.

"I think she wanted you to ask her out."

"Oh well, can I have your number so we can talk about tonight?" He smirks and I hand him my phone.

"I'll see you tonight." He gives me my phone and walks to class.

I smile to myself.

Hayes

I know her father told me to have no boyfriend/girlfriend relationship with his daughter and I needed to stop falling for her.

Hell, if you had to study a human being for so long, you'd be so anxious to meet them too.

You can only let her trust you, nothing more.

What if she falls for me though? As long as this whole plan plays out everything should be fine, right?

I have to focus. My goal is to make her trust me and if I don't, there's no telling what will happen.

My first priority is keeping Skylar safe and I will do anything to do so.

I can just remember her five year old self in that white dress, grabbing my hand.

"I'm scared, Hayes. What is going to happen to me?"

"I don't know. I'll be right here with you." I promise.

I hated thinking of the moment. She looked so scared and helpless, I'm glad she doesn't remember it.

I can't let it happen again.
