All weekend Hayes and I hung out at my house. Watching movies, playing games but now it's Monday and that means a long dreadful day at school. I just want to go back to this weekend.

"You didn't text me once this weekend." Kim snaps as soon as she walks to me.

"I'm sorry, I was with Hayes all weekend." I reply right as Stacey stands beside me.

"Aw, you two would be a cute couple." Stacey cheers but Kims face remains stern.

"Hayes doesn't seem like a kid you'd date." Kim says.

"You just say that because you want to date him." I argue.

"No, that's not it, Skylar. I just think he's too good to be true. He's hot and all hot boys just like to use girls."

"Kim, I've been your friend for so long. Can you just be happy for me? You knew that I used to have a crush on Chris and you dated him! You're a horrible friend!"

"I'm a horrible friend? I can be popular but instead a hang out with a little baby like you!" She bites back.

"I never asked you to choose me over the popular kids!"

"Guys, stop please." Stacey begs.

"Don't ever talk to me again." Kim demands, storming off.

"She didn't mean it, Sky, you're not a baby." Stacey tries to console me.

"Thanks Stac but I think I'm gonna find Hayes." I mutter.

I find him at his locker, talking to a couple guys but smiles when he sees me, "I'll talk to you guys later. Hi, Sky."

I suddenly feel a tear stream down my cheek. Hayes instantly wraps me in a hug.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Kim. She's mad at me and said a lot of things."

I hurt so much because Kim and I have been such good friends since we were seven. She knows a lot about me.

"I'm so sorry." He rubs my back, "can I ask a question?"

"What?"

"My parents would like to have dinner with you. Do you want to come?"

His parents want to meet me? I get nervous, "yeah, I'd love to."

"Is Skylar coming for dinner tomorrow night?" My mom asks.

"Yeah."

"How is it going with her?" She asks.

"I guess fine, I just hope she doesn't completely hate me after what will happen." I answer honestly.

"It will be okay. You're doing her good. You're keeping her safe. Now, tomorrow your father, brother, and I will act as if we've never seen her or don't know anything about her."

"Okay." I nod slowly.
