I'm not the one to be rude, at all, it wasn't how I was raised, but the wierd flashbacks made me sit silently and pick at my food with my fork.

"Honey, if you want we could go out." Elizabeth speaks up and I feel guilty.

"No, the food is amazing, it's nothing, I was just thinking," I change the subject quickly, "it's only my father and I. My dad can't cook near as good as this, we usually just get take out."

Everyone slightly smiles and Hayes' knee rubs against mine. Butterflies erupt in my stomach.

"Hayes talks about you a lot." Nash says, glancing at Hayes to see how embarrassed he'd be.

"Shut up, Nash." Hayes glares. I can't help but giggle foolishly.

"Are you excited for the dance?" Elizabeth asks and I look at Hayes in confusion.

"Mom," Hayes warns, "I was going to wait for a better time but since she already ruined it, you wanna go to the school dance with me?"

My cheek heats up, "I'd love to."

They all make small talk, asking me about myself and cracking jokes and when we all get done, Hayes grabs my hand.

"We'll be upstairs."

"Do you need any help?" I ask Elizabeth.

She shakes her head, "no, you two go ahead."

Once we get up the stairs, he bites his lip, "I heard about the dance from my friends and thought that maybe you'd want to go. I was going to ask a different way but my mom kind of ruins a lot of things." He rolls his eyes.

I couldn't believe how many friends he's already made. I see him talking to the jocks sometimes. I've been there for a while and don't really have that many friends.

"Yeah, I'd really enjoy going." I smile.

"So you wanna go somewhere with me?" He asks with a smirk tugging at his lips.

"Where to?"

"Skatepark." He smiles, grabbing a board from his closet, "you want to skate?"

"No," I shake my head, "I know my father wouldn't approve since I could possibly get hurt."

"We can go somewhere else."

"No, I wanna watch you." I give him a reassuring smile and nod.

Hayes

My whole life I've been sheltered but for some reason, my parents allowed me to come here. The skatepark. It was the only place I could feel like a real human being. Some in my position would probably blame Skylar for not getting to have a life but I had learned to accept it. Besides, I'd never blame Skylar for it, it's not her fault.

I watched as she watched me in awe. I was doing the same. She was beautiful, the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen. Her attitude just added onto her beauty too, she was so polite.

Just as I was about to look away, Christian sat right beside her. I balled my fist.

I had friends here, all of them questioned and wondered why I didn't tell them much about my life. Christian was my closest friend though, and now he was trying to steal my girl.

I knew how he was; flirty and wanted to get in their pants as fast as possible. The thought of him with her sent shivers down my spine. I wondered if I'd ever be with her like that, if I did, we'd have to hide it unless I wanted her dad to kill me.

Christian was scooting closer and she bit her lip, tucking her hair behind her ear. She was uncomfortable. My blood boiled.

"What's up, man?" Jack asks, nudging my shoulder.

"Uh nothing." I lie, glancing at her to make sure she's okay. I needed to punch Christian.

"You co-"

"I gotta go." I inturrupt, storming off.

"Hayes!" She sighs, looking up at me. I glared and  grabbed Christian by the collar to stand up.

"Yo, dude what's wrong with you?" He asks, throwing his hands up.

"Don't talk to her again." If looks could kill, I would've already had him buried.

"I-I didn't know."

"Hayes! Stop!" Sky stands up and rests her hand on my shoulder, I immediately calm down.

"Come on." She tugs at my arm, "please."

I pull my arm away and walk, hoping she'd follow and forgive me for my such harsh actions. Jealously gets the best of me.

Sorry for taking so long. Any thoughts on Christian?
