The remaining two days of training passed far too quickly and without any excitement. Now, here I am, standing in a cold room about to be sent to my death. A million thoughts are racing in my mind. How am I going to survive? What am I going to do? Do I have any allies? What will it be like in the arena? All these thoughts came at once, causing my head to pound. I push those thoughts from my mind, thinking instead about my little sister's face. Her bright eyes and cute giggle she makes when she laughs. I remember the reason I am going to make it out of here alive.
Her.
Soon, I have to climb into the tube. I close my eyes and stand perfectly still, not wanting to fall on a mine and die before the games even start. I stumble as the platform raises up, leaning towards one side of the circular disk.
Squinting at the sudden bright light, I try to scan my surroundings. All I can see is white. White sky. White ground. White everything. The only things not white, being the other tributes, their hair and black colored suits sticking out in the cold whiteness. I shiver and pull the jacket tighter around my small body, turning in a small circle to see behind me. The cornucopia is in the middle of the ring us tributes form, it's surface a mottled color of black and white. The black was obviously the color of the metal, the white being snowflakes. As the counter reaches thirty seconds, I notice something. Almost as soon as the snow hits the surface of the metal, it melts into water. The metal must be heated. Maybe it could be a possible shelter.
