My eyes feel heavy, I can hardly keep them open. My shoulder aches, burning hotter with every move I make. I'm so tired, all I want to do is sleep, but still I limp on through the snow, determined to find some type of shelter. The sun was falling over the horizon, the air growing colder with every passing second.
I see a small, dark figure in the distance, seeming to grow bigger as I walk on. Soon it takes on a human form, and I can make out a trident in the person's grip, currently being used as a walking stick.
I stop in my tracks and turn to avoid the figure, but turn back when I hear a voice, faint as it gets ripped away in the howling wind.
"Hey!"
From what I can tell, it's a boy, and it seems as if they're covered in blood... Either they're hurt or they've been on a killing spree. This thought goes through my mind slowly, my body being too numb to function at full speed. By the time I try to run, the boy is already upon me. I take one step and collapse at his feet.
I see the boy crouch by my side, and, through my blurry vision, I can just make out a pair of violet eyes.
Violet eyes.
Dart.
I'm going to die. I'm going to die. I'm sorry, Halsie. I'm going to die. I vainly attempt to escape, only to have him place a large hand on my shoulder to keep me still.
My hurt shoulder.
I wince in pain, too tired to move, too dehydrated to scream. The cold snow is numbing my skin, I can't feel my arms or legs.
I feel my eyes drooping lower and lower, and I know unconsciousness is falling upon me.
Giving a small smile, I welcome it. After all, it will hurt a lot less if I'm knocked out when he slits my throat.
