Okay, I'm horrible.

I know that I didn't update for a loooooooooong time (almost 3 months), and I really apologize for that. I just had a lot going on - exams, a week-long break (in which I travelled a lot) before school started again, then school work, and a major, major case of writer's block-itis. But the my vacation started again, and I decided to update. Because I know what it's like waiting for updates. I was a reader here before a writer, so I know.

Anyway, enough sentimentality. Enjoy the new chapter!

"Hello, baby sister!" Kris walks in, grinning like a lunatic. I look up from my textbook. "Our births are only a minute's difference, Kris."

"Pshh, so what? I'm still older...by a minute!" He ruffles my hair and leans over my shoulder to see what I'm doing. "Chemistry? Seriously??"

"Hey, there's a test tomorrow. And Ms Hunt - you know, the lady with too much lipstick, who gave me detention - she's gonna check every nook and corner of my test-paper to make sure that I lose at least one mark. So I have to study extra-hard. I can't lose any marks and I can't slack like you."

"Oh, that's why June cancelled our date for this evening! She said she had to study. This was what she had to study for!" he gets this wise look on his face.

It would've actually looked wise, but with Kris, you never know if you're looking at someone wise or constipated.

I frown. "What do you want, Kris?"

He gasps. "Can't I just come to see my baby sister, to know how she's doing? Really, Kyles, is that how low you think of me? I'm offended, truly I..." he catches sight of my bored, disbelieving expression, and sighs. "Okay, okay. I wanna plan an awesome date for June, to confess to her that I'm in love with her, but I just don't have any ideas!" He flops down on a beanbag.

My eyes widen and I turn to him. "What?? Seriously? You're...in love. With June?!"

"Yes."

I can't help it. I scream and jump onto Kris's lap, wrapping my arms around his neck. "Oh my gods, Kris! My brother is all grown up! Krune has truly sailed!"

He laughs and hugs me back. "Yes, okay Kyles. Chill."

I get off him and sit down in front of him on the floor. "So, you wanna plan her an awesome date, huh?" He nods.

"Well, lemme think..." I scratch my head to think of something. "Nope. I got nothing. Chemistry is all that's occupying my brain."

"Kyles! Think! You're smart; think of something!" He reaches out and with his fingers, presses my temples. I swat his hands away. "I'll think of something tomorrow, when the test is over and I'm free of all troubles. We're being graded for this because Ms Hunt didn't give us an assignment last month."

He sighs. "Then I won't disturb you until tomorrow." He gets up to leave, and I get up too.

"Hey, by the way," he says, stopping at the doorway. "Is it true you like Brandon?"

I gasp. "How d'you know that?"

He smirks. "Ethan told me. I was kind of hurt, to be honest. You could've told me first."

"Sorry," I say. "I just...I felt you'd find it weird that your sister secretly likes your best friend."

He grimaces. "When you say it like that, I do find it weird."

I laugh, and push him out. "Go on, Kris. Lemme study."

*************************

I rub my eyes and look at the time - 11 pm. I've been studying for five hours now, without a break at all.  I even told Dad to go away when he knocked on the door to call me for dinner. I guess it's right what some people call me - a nerd without the glasses. I'm sure I can speak off the entire Chemistry textbook by now.
