★ Kris Jackson ★

I'm playing Clash of Clans in the TV room when Kylee walks in. "Kris, what're you doing tonight?"

I pause the game and look up at her. "It's Friday night. I'll probably be going to a party. Or maybe I'll hang out with the guys. Why?"

"Well," says she, grinning, "I've planned a blind date for you!"

I stare at her. "What?" She nods at me in an excited manner. "Yeah! I decided that you're ready for this thing now, so I'm setting you up on another date at Pizza Paradise!"

I stand up and grab her by the shoulders. "Are you okay, Kyles? I told you yesterday that I like someone. So why're you setting me up on a date with someone else?!"

She gives me a knowing look and simply says, "Practice makes a man perfect, Kris. Now, you're meeting her at 7 pm. And don't get a gift, get flowers this time." She thinks for a while. "Pink chrysanthemums. She loves them. They're her favorite."

"How would you know that? What if she likes roses?"

"She told me, genius."

She starts walking out, but I stop her. "Wait. How will I recognize her? Tell me what she'll be wearing."

This time Kylee grins. "Oh, you'll recognize her alright."

I get out of my Mustang and walk towards Pizza Paradise, when I realize that I forgot the chrysanthemums. "Fuck," I curse under my breath. Then I straighten. Well, its not like I want that girl to like me. The one whom I want...she probably doesn't even know I like her.

Nevertheless, I straighten my shirt -I'm wearing a black button down shirt and dark blue ripped jeans with a dog-tag chain hanging from my neck. I didn't bother doing anything with my hair, and I now run a self-conscious hand through it, and walk toward the famous diner.

As I come close to it, I look through the glass window and...wait, what is she doing here?! I never expected her to be here! I walk inside, and I'm hit by the delicious smell of pizza. But I ignore it as I walk up to her, unable to believe my eyes.

It is her.

"June?" I say gently. Those grass green eyes look up at me, and my heart stops.

Okay, well, almost.

"Kris!" she gasps. That one syllable rolls on her tongue so perfectly; I feel like making her sit down with me and asking her to repeat my name again and again.

"Hey," I say, composing myself. "What're you doing here?"

She sighs. "Oh, um...I'm here on a date."

Could she be the blind date Kylee was talking about?

No, Kylee doesn't know that I like her. She could very well be on a date with someone else.

Just the thought makes my stomach clench. But I take a deep breath. "Oh. I gather he hasn't arrived yet." She shakes her head. "No. What about you?"

"I'm..." I hesitate. I don't want June to know that I'm on a date. "I'm seeing a friend." I see her shoulders relaxing. She nods. I nod as well. "So, uh...I'm over there," I point to a table on the other side, "if you...if you wanna come over to talk." As soon as I finish saying this, I realize how stupid I sounded. Why would she wanna come over to talk to me? She's gonna be on a date with some other guy, who probably had more guts than me to ask her out.

Yet she nods, probably trying to be polite. "Okay, um...see ya," I walk over and sit down on a table some distance away from hers, waiting for a girl whom I don't want, while the one I want waits for someone else.
