Chapter 28

Mingyu yawned tiredly, stretching his long limbs as the last class of the day finally ended. Everyone started clearing out of the class, and the male did so too after he bid goodbye to his Professor.

"Gyu!"

Wonwoo, who was waiting for him outside the room, squealed in delight when he saw his boyfriend. Running into Mingyu's chest, he hugged his torso.

"Babe! What are you doing here?" the taller male asked as he slid his arms around his boyfriend's waist.

"Gyu, we have a mission to do before New Year!"

Humming, Mingyu brought them to the Cafeteria. They sat down on an empty table, opposite each other before continuing their conversation.

"Anything happened?"

With a pout, Wonwoo nodded slowly.

"Soonyoung... He has never spaced out in class and... We really need to fix this, don't you think so? I'm sure Jihoon didn't mean to reject him... It really did affected Soonyoung, and I hope he doesn't do anything stupid.."

The male started tearing up, at the thought of finding the always happy Soonyoung emotionless and broken.

Mingyu frowned, holding his boyfriend's hand in his tightly.

"He worked so damn hard... Tried to stay happy at all times, positively. And it was all for Jihoon, who never really showed love. But we all know he really loves Soonyoung a lot, but he doesn't know how to show it! What if, they break up?! Oh god.."

"Wonwoo... You know Soonyoung will be much more unhappier when he lets go of Jihoon, right?"

The male nodded in response, but he sighed when he realised something.

"Can love even stop unhappiness? You know, sometimes love leads to something else.. Like, lust? Lust can lead to obsession and obsession can lead to an unhappy relationship. It's not a love anymore."

"Has Soonyoung ever lust after Jihoon? Think about it. Soonyoung really loves him, but I don't know about Jihoon. But either way, we'll think of something to get those two happy again."

"I don't think we would want to see a quiet Soonyoung and a tired Jihoon everyday, right?"

Soonyoung sighed, tossing and turning on his bed as he try to sleep. He couldn't stop thinking of Jihoon, and he really misses his warmth.

Sitting up on his bed, he reached out for his phone on the bedside table.

He called the one person he knows that will be awake at 2am even though there's school tomorrow.

"Seokmin-ah, you want to hang out for a while?"

Seokmin smiled gently when he saw the familiar figure walking down the stairs, waving at the male.

"You can't sleep?"

Soonyoung nodded, "Taking a break from your studying for me?"

The other male shrugged his shoulders, "I'm getting restless nowadays and studying doesn't help me relax."

"Obviously, you idiot!"

Quietly, they went to the convenience store in the campus. They payed for some snacks and 4 cans of beer before heading up to the rooftop.

As Seokmin closed the door, Soonyoung took a seat on the rough floor and relaxed when the cold night air hit him.

He set down the drinks on the floor and waited for Seokmin to settle down beside him, with his favourite Chocopies and Kkokkalcorns-

"You're hungry, aren"t you?" Seokmin who saw through Soonyoung chuckled in amusement when the male furiously nodded his head, taking the two snacks from him and stuffing his mouth with Chocopies first.

Tearing open the package of the Honey Butter Chips, Seokmin popped one inside his mouth as he watched the other stuffing his mouth messily.

"Hey, Soonyoung?"

Hearing a hum as a response from the male, he continued on with his words.

"Are you really okay?"

Soonyoung, who was about to stuff his mouth with another Chocopie, stopped his actions when he heard his friend.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Why did you ask?"

Seokmin clicked his tongue, "I can see that you're becoming... How do I say this, not you?"

The rejected male, who was suddenly feeling so thirsty, opened one of the cans of beer and gulped all of it down in one breath.

"I heard from Mingyu that you told him to let Jihoon stay inside his dorm? Soonyoung-ah, you know he loves you."

Smiling, Soonyoung brought down the can and placed it on the floor. He ran his fingers through his Blonde hair and sighed.

"It's been three years, Seokmin. Three years, I have been waiting for him to at least approach me first. I have been wanting him to at least show some appreciation during our anniversaries. It was always give-and-take - I gave something to him, he took it. That's all. Never have I once received something from him, not even an 'I love you' or 'I miss you'. I'm getting tired of trying so hard to earn something that I shouldn't even want. I don't deserve him, I'm just not his type."

Not wanting to interrupt the story, Seokmin grabbed a can of beer and took a couple of sips as he watched Soonyoung who was staring at the ground.

"I wondered why did he even accept my confession, probably because he wanted to try dating someone? I don't even know anymore. I just want to take a break from the relationship, I've had enough of being the one doing everything! All the loving, all the giving, all the hurting, all the waiting!"

The male started tearing up, but he held it in as he didn't wanted to look weak in front of his friend.

"E-even if it hurts to death, I'm trying to hide myself under a mask for him. For three years already, I've been enduring so fucking hard. But now, should I let him go? I'm hesitating because I'm scared I'll break him for leaving."

Seokmin stayed quiet, passing a can of beer to him, who received it with a "thanks".

"You know what's best for you and Jihoon, Soonyoung-ah. All I can say is, it doesn't hurt to take a break for a short while."

Seokmin placed a hand on the other's shoulder for comfort, squeezing it lightly.

"Stay strong, man. If I can hide my feelings for 2 years from him, then you can get back on the right track again with him."

I couldn't sleep, and negative thoughts are stuck in my head so I'm trying to distract myself :)
