It was raining as I made my way across the parking lot to where I always parked my motor bike under the lamp. It had been a long day for me the kind that makes your eyelids droop and your limbs ache. The visibility was terrible as I sloshed through the lot hood up. I was just about to swing my leg over when a beam of bright light swept across the lot and landed on me. I squinted against the rain and brightness of the person's headlights.
They rolled closer and a little part of me clamed up getting nervous. I reached into my pocket curling my fingers around my pocket knife just in case...
"Hey," a male voice yelled over the rain.
"Who--
"Michael. It's Michael need a ride?"
I watched as he flicked on the light in his car illuminating his features that were previously shrouded in darkness. He hitched a corner of his mouth up. A phantom of a smile gracing his lips.
I considered this for a moment. Did he drive all the way here just to offer me a ride? Cause it was raining? That seemed a little sketchy to me. Especially after not showing up for the past few days. Business moved along just fine, but every night when I swept my eyes across the restaurant surveying it-- my eyes hadn't lit upon his own. I told Flo about how I poured coffee all over him and how it had been her fault for distracting me. She laughed and told me that's probably why he wasn't showing up. He didn't want me to soil another one of his sweaters.
I realized after a few that he was waiting for an answer, "Uh. I'll soak your seats."
He shrugged and dipped his head down. After rummaging around he held up a plastic bag. I small plastic bag.
"That's not... gonna cut it..."
I don't know why-- maybe it was my facial expression-- but he laughed. His lips stretched, dimples deepened and his eyes crinkled into happy little half moons. All the air in my lungs almost left me. He was absolutely captivating when a full grin taking over his features.
"It wasn't that funny," I stated once I had finished drinking in his countenance.
"C'mon you can't ride in rain like this."
And he was right the rain was positively atrocious but, "I can't just leave my bike."
He threw a glance towards the direction of my bike and cocked his head to the side pursing his lips and giving me a look.
I pivoted on my heel and called over my shoulder, "I'm just gonna wait it out in the diner."
I hopped onto my bike and drove around back stowing it under the awning and chaining it for good measure. Fumbling with my key chain I finally found the right key and shoved it into the door. Hearing the click of the lock I opened the door soundlessly and slipped in. Before I could get to peeling off my jacket that was drenched through I heard a knock on the door.
Once again a nervous feeling buzzed around the pit of my stomach. Hesitantly I grabbed an even bigger knife than my own from the drawer in the kitchen and pressed my ear to the door.
"Hello?"
"Michael again," was what I got in reply all muffled by the door.
I brandished the knife in front of me to be safe and swung the door open.
I was greeted with a very wet very grumpy looking Micheal. His hair stuck down onto his forehead, thick droplets of water rolling down his forehead in little rivulets making paths down his pronounced cheekbones, and then curing and disappearing under his chin.
"You didn't have to lock me out you know."
"You didn't have to follow me," I shot back.
He exhaled a little puff of laughter, his head bobbing back slightly in reluctant amusement, "Toche."
"Why are you here anyway?" I asked leaning against the doorframe and looking at the knife sparkle as the light caught it.
"Uh," stepping forward he placed his hand on mine lowering the knife, "you're making me nervous with that. What'd you think I was a theif or something here to jump you?"
I shrugged an angry blush colouring my cheeks, "Sorry for wanting to be safe I guess?"
He walked around me and into the kitchen raising his arms and pointing his palms outward, "Hey, hey, hey no need to get snippy with me."
"Whatever."
Grummbling incoherently I peeled the jacket off of me along with the longlseeve I had been wearing that now stuck to me like a second skin. I was left bone cold in a skimpy damp teal cami and black jeans. I grunted grudgingly as I hung the clothes over the line that Dino clipped his orders to.
Taking up residence on the raditor I let out a content sigh as the heat I had turned up first thing came blowing out and warming me.
Upon opening my eyes I took in a sharp silent little breath at the sight of Micheal. He was already attractive before I knew he had the body of a Greek god, but now that I harboured this knowledge his stupid brooding butt became even more attractive (not his actual butt-- although that was nice too). I tried not to stare too blatenly at the muscles that rippled in his back under the thin grey wife beater as he shuck off his sweater and tshirt.
Once again I tried-- key word tried-- not to stare but I guess he felt my eyes boring into him and raking over his body without restaint because he turned to face me, his eyes locking and clashing on my own. Suddenly I was very aware and all to self consious of what I was wearing-- or not wearing as his gaze flew over me. He was checking me out I realized just as I was doing to him earlier. Excpet he was entirely more blatent then I ever would be. I had tried to cast casual glances and take short looks but he-- he was just-- ugh I don't even know.
But what I did know was that liquid heat was lighting me afire from the inside out in every place his eyes landed. Finally his focus swept back up to my face hovrering over my mouth until it finally met my eyes.
His own were smouldering.
"Go out with me?"
