Leah
I was outside working on another wood carving. I was trying to carve Azula, but I couldn't. The carving looked more like Zuko. He was always on my mind, and because of that, my artwork suffered. I looked back down at my carving. It wasn't the best I've created. Honestly, it didn't even measure up to most of my work. I raised my carving knife, and pointed it towards the eye. Just as I was about to turn the wood into a scratching post, I was interrupted.
"Wait, I like that one!" A deep gentle voice said from behind me.
"Iroh, are you sure I shouldn't get rid of it?" I ask. Iroh was Zuko and Azula's uncle. He had a ridiculous obsession with tea, and he often made preachy statements. He was the only person that I told about my infatuation with Zuko.
"Leah, it is something you worked hard to make. It may not have come out the way you intended, it is still something you've worked for." He smiled. Some found his preachy ways to be annoying , but I don't know how else I would've handled things without him.
"I'm missing something.." I said, thoughtfully, looking at the left eye of my carving.
"His scar." Iroh frowns. He was there when Zuko got scarred by his own father. The worst part is, he was scared more emotionally than physically.
"Should I...?" I asked.
Iroh didn't speak. He simply shrugged, and contently sat on the bench, across from me.
"Uncle!" I shot a panicked glance to Iroh, who gestured for me to act natural.
"Yes prince Zuko?" Iroh said with a smile. Zuko was intimidating, but not Iroh.
"I can't get Ty Lee to stop bugging Mai, and I. She's bored. Maybe you should tell her your stories to entertain her?" Zuko groaned.
Mai was Zuko's girlfriend. She was quiet and spoke rarely. She was also hard to get along with.
"I will be right back, Leah" Iroh smiles and walks off. I didn't hear Zuko leave, so I make what the blunder of turning around. He looked at me with a blank expression but when he saw my carving.
"Who is that!?" His voice booms. I looked at the carving and realised that i accidently stabbed its good eye and i made his scar way to big. "Um its supposed to be Azula.." i said looking at it. I wasn't a lie because it really was meant to be her. "Can I see it" he said calmly holding out his hand. I nodded and handed it to him taking the knife out of the eye. I watched as he examines it closely. But then he did something I never imagined. "It's amazing and it looks just like Azula!" He shouted with a smile that I rarely see. He closed his hand over of and closed his eyes. I smiled until i realised what he was doing. The carving caught fire and was turning to ashes. "Here!" He growled and threw the ashes at my feet. Then he stomped off. I felt like crying but I had to stay strong especially in the Fire Nation. If you show weakness you are challenged to do hard things and if you break a sweat they take the one thing you care about most away. I looked at my pocket knife and stood off the hard ground. I walked to my room in the giant estate Zuko's family lives in.
An hour later someone knocks on my door. I don't want to get up so I just say "come in" . "Hey firelord Ozai is making an announcement in 5minuets." Mai's empty emotionless voice says. "Okay thank you Mai." I laugh. She rolls her eyes and walks out closing the door behind her.
I fix my hair and run down to the meeting room.
Zuko,Mai,Ty-lee, and Azula are all sitting In the front row. I look for Iroh's smile but I only see a grown. I walk to him and sit next to him. "I left the seat by Zuko open for you" he gestures towards the seat between Mai and Zuko. Mai looks back at me and shows real emotion to me.. anger. She glares at me and kicks the chair over. I look down and blush. Iroh puts his han on my shoulder to make me feel better.
"I need all attention!" An angry voice booms from the speakers platform. I jump because I hadn't noticed Ozai walk to it. The room goes silent of its murmers and whispers and laughing. "As you all my know, my son Prince Zuko was challenged to an agni kai against me." He smiled. It was a toxic smile. I looked to Zuko Was slumped in his chair. "'' by refusing to fight me he showed great weakness and disrespect so I scared him ad a lesson of respect." He still must learn to be strong." As you all know a hundred years ago the avatar disappeared." "Zuko will find the avatar and bring him back to me alive to restore his honor and title." He continued. "Until he has the avatar he may not return." ''With that I banish Zuko for weakness and dishonor to all in the fire nation!"
I stared wide eyed not believing what I just heard. Zuko was now a banished prince and was now to pack his stuff and leave.
Note okay hope you liked the first part of it and thanks for reading
*UPDATE* Uh... I forgot what tense this is written in, for the most part, I think the actions are mainly past and the speaking is present. This is supposed to be past tense. That's my fault, sorry!
