Toby's legs were about to collapse before Rachel and the mysterious flying man set him in a chair. That clip of that man flying was still pondering in her mind. Maybe her eyes were playing a trick, making her imagine things. But things have happened so fast her whole mind was cloudy and gurgled. She couldn't get her thoughts strait and interpret them. Trying to understand what to think or belive.
The mystery man lowered Toby in a chair slowly, and he fell asleep.
"I told you to take it easy with your injury." He said.
Toby opened his eyes, "But there wasn't any one who could do the job."
Mystery man frowned and turned to Rachel, he had thick black hair, in a red flannel with ripped jeans.
"Where is this?" She asked.
She looked up at the tree houses filled with lights and people walking along bridges.
"The third division." He said.
He hung his head a bit when he said that. Rachel didn't think any of it she just wanted to see as much as possobible. Her hair blew in the wind and the surgical tape began to peel off her skin. The mystery man noticed and walked over tword her, as she tried to hold the tape back on with her fingers.
"Here let me get that." He said.
He grabbed the ends with his index and thumb and began to slowly pull it off her face. She winced.
"Does it look bad?" She asked quietly.
He turned and dashed, the only thing left was a blur before he was back holding a mirror.
Rachel blinked a couple times, that had to be at least 300 miles per hour?
He handed her throat mirror and she took a glance at her face, and didn't see any scars, or stitches. Just her face, like it was before the accident.
"Wh-what happened to my scars?" She asked shakily.
Her hand began shaking and he took the mirror out of her hand. She felt sick, weak.
Her legs felt like jell-o, and her mind was trying to tell her to pass out, or clock out.
"Fast regeneration, it's normal you'll get the rest of your abilities soon enough." Toby slurred.
Mystery man punched his fist in the air excitedly and he jumped, like someone was carrying him, he flew, in circles dips, and twists while laughing.
"I told you it was her! I knew it!" He exclaimed as he carefully landed on the ground.
"Calm Giro," Toby muttered.
Giro was still laughing in Joy but, Rachel began to feel sick and fell on the ground, she felt shakey.
Toby sprang up catching her, holding her in his arms. She caught her breath and inhaled sharpley.
His muscles were already beginning to heal, and he soon started to feel like himself.
"Were over loading her," He said.
Giro looked down at Rachel she had sweat beaming on her forehead and her face was flushed. He nodded, knowing she would come, he really wanted to talk to her. Giro offered the job first, but Toby had already left. He really wanted to meet Rachel...
Giro picked her up and flew to the trees where houses were suspended in the branches. They were mainly made from oak, and they seemed warm, cozy. The tile roof, and many windows. Giro landed on a bridge and carefully carried Rachel, holding her weight in her arms. He grunted as he went inside Toby's small home. It was warm and the lights were on. Most of what was inside was wood. He carefully set Rachel on the leather tan couch and saw Toby walk in the door. Giro jumped as he came around.
"God your quiet." He muttered.
Toby shrugged, "I guess. Giro you know what this means."
Giro looked down at Rachel and watched her sleeping face. He pursed his lips and sighed, "yeah."
Toby peered out a window, he couldn't imagine how Rachel would feel once she woke up. Probably confused and sad, but probably terrified. He still remembered how she kinda aced his ass when she took a hold of the vehicle.
"Triple protection, I don't want anyone out after midnight." Toby ordered.
Giro nodded and went out the door and tword the guard towers. Toby ran his fingers through his hair. He frowned, anything was unpredictable, meaning anything could happen at any time. The Palace's guards could come after their district anytime now. Someone, the doctor must have ratted on them. Maybe they were on their way already. Toby just needs to make sure, that Rachel has mastered all her abilities to face what could come next.********************************
Rachel woke abruptly, and looked around. The setting was different, she was in a home. It had lots of beautiful wood all around, she was laying on a comfortable leather tan couch. She could hear the soft ticking of a clock in the background. She was tired, sore, and stressed. She had only found out all these things in a day, so much has happened...
She heard a door open and she turned her body and saw Toby walk out, with and towel wrapped around his waist, shirtless.
He saw Rachel out of the corner of his eyes, "Your up early."
Rachel hesitated to cover her eyes with her hands. She blushed a little, "Y-Y-Your not wearing any cloths!"
Toby smirked, "indeed I am not, good of you to notice but I am wearing a towel. So technically I am clothed."
Rachel snickered. She uncovered her eyes and was releived to see Toby have on some pants, but still shirtless, hot damn.
She stretched her arms, so she couldn't hurt or tear any ligaments or tendons. Toby watched her out of the corner of his eyes with a small smirk across his face. He pulled over a grey T shirt and adjusted it.
Rachel blushed and looked away, peering out the window next to her and saw more people out there, working.
"What's this division called?" She asked.
Toby glanced over his shoulder, "Rejects."
Rachel looked down and bit her bottom lip. So much for a nice name, rejects.
Rachal sat up and ran her fingers through her hair and combed her fingers through her hair everytime she felt a knot in her hair and pulled through with strands of hair between the webs of her fingers. She grunted, her scalp was always senstive. However she had left her things behind within the crash and only had what she was wearing. And the lint in her pockts.
She saw Toby out of the corner of her eye go out the front door. She sat up, swung her legs off the couch and stood up, following Toby out the door and closing it behind her. She saw Toby, in the sky swooping down onto the ground off the bridge. Rachel's jaw dropped and she leaned over the wood railings of the bridge.
Toby looked up smirking at Rachel's face.
"Can everyone fly here?" She gaped.
Toby laughed, "Yeah, so can you."
Rachel's eyes widened, I can fly?
Toby's feet lifted from the ground and he levitated to where Rachel was and floated across from her, face to face. He watched his deep blue eyes. He watched him stay there and then lift further in the air, he began spinning in circles. Rachel enjoyed but not as much as Toby. Feeling the sun on his face was pure joy. Wind blowing and stinging his face, his hair blowing in his face. He smiled.
Rachel sprinted up and down the bridges and looked for stairs. She eventually found some and skipped steps down until her shoes hit the grass. Toby landed in front of Rachel, huge smile slapped across his face.
"I can fly? How?" Rachel asked and grabed onto Toby's coller and pulled him down to her face.
He laughed, "Think of it, imagine how it would feel and stay focused."
Toby lifted up, pulling her upwards. Rachel screecehd as her feet couldnt touch the ground. She looked down and saw the ground getting further and further from her. She whimpered as she held onto his collor while her other hand held onto his shoulder pulling her closer to him.
"If you want to fly, you can't be afraid." he said softly.
Rachel gulped. She had to trust Toby, knowing that he wouldn't drop her. She had to, she had no choice.
She imagined, being in the air, feeling the fresh wind blow in thorugh her hair, and brush across her face. How her body felt weightless, like therewas notthing. She closed her eyes, and though about feathers, birds, flying, invisible wings. Flying freely in the air, free, freedom.
She heard a laugh and saw she was levitating, away from Toby. He floated there proud. Rahcel smiled nervously and worked her way twords Toby, but he scooted away further. Rachel nervously chuckeled as she flew closer but Toby went away further until he boosted away. Rachel frowned and tried boosting, it was like zero gravity. She tilted to the side and got into Superman pose and thought about going faster, and immediantly she felt a fast boost of gravity repell her at her feet and she sped twords Toby, crashing into him. She laughed and felt Toby's body hit her on the side.
She smiled and felt herself land on the ground again. She saw Toby land on the ground next to her with his hair all messed up, laughing.
Giro came out of a small building and ran to see Rachel and Toby.
"Toby!" He hissed.
Toby turned his head, running his fingers through his hair.
"Her abilities are already ariving quicker then we assumed." Giro muttered.
"I know this is perfect, it's great. This is what we need." Toby said excitedly.
"What we need is to be careful." Giro said seriously, "We don't know how strong she is yet."
Toby's smile fell. He turned his head and walked away. Giro's eyes widened, "Shit, shit, Toby!"
Toby lifted off the ground and flew to a seperate section.
Giro's face fell into guilt. Rachel came up behind, "What happened?"
Giro grunted,"Toby had depression, mention the littlest thing that upsets him and then it's like the light is gone. We're trying our best to keep him happy but nothing seems to work."
He looked up, "Until you showed up, he wouldnt stop telling me about you, do us a favor and keep him happy while we can't."
Rachel nodded, and she turned around to catch up to Toby. He walked over, slouched and seemed to be muttering things under his breath.
Rachel walked up, and walked along side him. She saw his expression, blank and you could tell he was agitated with something, everything. He kept staring down at his feet as he walked. Rachel looked around and saw the houses less and less, there they approached a large stone wall with towers and people inside the buildings. She looked up and saw that it went abve the trees, dividing them from everyone else.
"Toby," She said softly.
He paid no attention to her and kept walking forward. Rachel frowned getting frustraited, was he really going to walk away? She couldn't let that happen, she promised Giro to turn him around, make him happy. But how?
"Toby, stop!" She exclaimed grabbing his hand and pulling him back.
He stumbled backwards and Rachel caught him before he could fall. She helped him stand up and held onto him so he couldn't walk any further.
"Rachel let go," He said and grabbed his hand trying to pry it off.
Rachel kept a tight grip on him and held on before wrapping her arms around his waist tightly. Like a feather, a bird, she thought.
Rachel's feet left the ground and she floate off, going back into the town and looked for Toby's house. Toby fought to make her let go, she felt strong arms pushing on her shoulders, and trying to pull her off, but she kept holding on. She held onto his body, holding his weight in her arms and looking for his house.
"Rachel, let go now!" He yelled.
She frowned, she's just trying to help and this asshole won't accept her graditude. It was already hard enough to deal with the loss of her parents already but to deal with this now, she wasn't going to put up with this.
"No!" She argued back.
Rachel held on tighter and swooped down to a bridge and floated down, pushed open the door of Toby's house and shoved him inside before shutting the door behind her.
She let him go and he bounced out of her grip and turned around with a frustraited look on his face.
"What the hell!" He sneered.
Rachel twisted an ovel brass knob above the doorknob locking it.
"What's going on with you?! Are you bipolar or something?! I mean one second you were laughing your ass off and know your Mr. Sad and Depressing." Rachel yelled.
She walked over and angrily shut the window blinds.
She saw Toby frowning, "You don't understand"
Rachel rolled her eyes in annoyance, "You're right, I don't, why don't you explain?!"
She gestured to a chair and took a seat aross from it. Toby didn't care and took a seat on the couch. Rachel popped up from her seat and sat next to him.
"I don't want to talk about it...." He muttered.
He hung his head and sighed, Rachel sighed leaned back.
"If you don't talk to someone sooner or later, it's gonna drive you mad. Giro's worried about you, I'm worried about you." She said.
She felt Toby shift closer twords her. He inhalded sharply and sighed.
"What if this whole mission blows, we lose everything and we die." He said.
"Mission?" She repeated.
Toby shifted again, "I don't wanna overload you on information."
Rachel laid her head against him, "I can take it, I promise."
Toby inhales sharpley again, "America, as you knew it is no longer a Democracy. After the 2016 elections, trends seemed to take over peoples choices. Eventually one voice rose above the others. Her name was Thressa Allgood and she hired some goons to assassinate president Donald Trump." He said.
"Wow so Trump did become president." She blurted, "Sorry continue."
"Anyways since she before president Obama hasn't been following the constitution she destroyed it, applying her own rules and eventually creating a Monarchy. Americal was practically going for the better, these rules she created reshaped the huan population, making them more disiplined and she made extremely good desicions for the Economy and we grew rich in power, solving wars, getting rid of our debt. Everything was great. She ruled for a good 34 years before she was poisoned by our current queen." He explained.
Rachel listened to everything, "But she looks 25? How is that possible?" She asked.
"There was a drug developed, Shcottex, which slows down the aging process." He explained.
"Oh." Rachel replyed.
"Anyways nobody expected it, the killer Merissa Long took over the throne and ruined everything Thressa had worked hard to fix. She offered people plastic surgery and created a new social stand. Beauty, Rejects, and Beastly. Praising beauty and rewarding it, while disrespecting the others. It was corrupted, the country she overtook eventually turned into an empire, then the world. The original heir was remained a mystery until now." He said.
Rachel looked up and saw Toby staring down at her, "Rachel you are Thressa's grand daughter, after your mom died, you now take the heir. Rachel, we need you to fix the world."
