Chapter 5

Seth dragged me from the room. “You do realize I don’t have any parents.” I asked him once we were out of the ear shot of everybody.

“Yes but I could still read your mind. You were about to get into a lot of trouble. Plus I have so information that we need to go over at our house. I texted Kelly to tell the office we had to go. She said she would come pick us up but I figured you would rather ride home with me. Am I right cause if not I will text her.” I slapped him in the back of the head. “Oww what was that for?” He whined.

“You know perfectly well what that was for. Come on pretty boy lets go.” I grabbed his hand and drug him to our Camaro.

After about 5 silent minutes after I asked the question that had been on my mind all day. “Seth?”

“What is it Amber?”

“This morning-“ he cut me off.

“I am sorry. I really didn’t mean to do that. I don’t know why I did that. Something came over me. I hope we can still be friends.” He said looking at the road and running his hands through his light brown hair.

“That is not really what I was going to ask.”  My eyebrows  going together.

“Really?” He said a little to happily. “Then what was it.”

Should I ask him. Yea partners cant just keep secrets.

“Well.i.was.kinda.thinking.that.when.you.asked.if.i.needed.anything.more.and.thenkelly.and.christy.walked.in.and.i.was.really.sad.that.we.had.to.stop.” I spit out as fast as I could and waited for a response on Seth’s face.

“Wait… you wanted me to kiss you?” confusion written all over his face.

I didn’t answer. “Amber? Did you want me to kiss you? Come on we can’t keep secrets like this.” He said as we pulled up into our driveway. He parked the car and then locked the door.

“Come on Seth let me out.” I whined.

“ Not until you answer my question. Did you want me to kiss you?” He looked into my eyes.

“ Maybe.” I almost whispered.

“I couldn’t hear you.” He smiled at me. I looked deeply into his eyes.

“If you know me well enough that look would have-” He grabbed the back of my neck pulling me close. He put his lips on mine and then let go and ran out of the car.

“I am going to kill you Seth.” I said sprinting after him.

I followed him to his room and shoved him onto his bed. “I hate you so-”

He pulled me onto him. I hit his chest with a thud.

“Come on Amber. You know you can’t hurt me. You little heart would break.” He said laughing.

“Shut-up Seth or ill or ill-”

“Or you will what Amber?” I heard a man’s voice say. “You wouldn’t hurt my son right?” Jonah said looking from me to Seth.

“I-I-oh what does it matter?” I stuttered.

“Well for one you are laying on top of Seth in his bed. Do I need to go on?” he replied.

“We are certified UYT agents. What do you really think we would do?”

“You guys are two 17 year olds left in the same room together on the bed. I don’t give a crap how certified you are. Stay in your own beds.” By this time I was sitting up trying very hard not to laugh at how fatherly he was.

He turned to leave and said something like ‘Just keep your pants on.’

I looked at Seth and we both cracked up laughing.

“So Amber…” Seth said running his hand through his hair again.

“What do you want Seth?” I said smiling evilly. “Would you like another kiss?”

His face lit up. “Oh bother your ‘dad’ s still here.” I said looking down the door. “So why did you take us out of school?”

“I think it would be best if we took a walk and thought about it.” He said winking at me.

“Ok I will go get into more comfy clothes.” I said running to my room across the hall.
