Daemon couldn't believe his eyes when he opened the door. Luc was standing in front of him. "What up?" Daemon stared at him in awe. "You gonna let me in or stare at me until you drill a hole in my chest?" Luc asked. Daemon snapped out of it and moved aside. "I hope you don't mind my intrusion but I had to talk to you. It's sort of an emergency and I needed and excuse to come visit." "What are you doing here?" Luc ignored Daemon's question. "Nice place you got here. I like the decor. Did Katy arrange the place?" "Luc. What do you want?" Daemon asked once again. "Is Katy home?" Daemon sighed. She's in the kitchen. "Great. Lead the way." Daemon led Luc to the kitchen. He saw his wife's and son's confused faces when he returned. Luc followed him in. "Well there's a face I haven't seen in a while," he said grinning. Katy walked up to him. "Well you haven't changed. It's nice to see you again Luc." Luc gave Katy a hug while Daemon watched them carefully. Luc scrunched his nose. "It smells like fish. Yuck." he said. Katy pushed her hair behind her ears. "Sorry. We just had fish for dinner." "Don't worry about it." he said. His eyes wandered over to Adam. He smiled once again. "Well if it isn't. Wow you're all grown up. Looking good too." Adam was thoroughly confused. Luc laughed. "You don't remember me kid. I met you when you were just 1 year old. You were a cute little thing. I have to say your cousin was a little cuter though." "You know Ashley?" Adam asked. "Yeah sure do!" Luc responded. Adam frowned. "Hey now kid. You should be nicer to me. I'm the reason your parents are still alive." "That's debatable," Daemon said. Luc cut his eyes at Daemon. "Man oh man am I hungry. I didn't get a chance to eat before coming here. You got anything besides fish?" Luc asked Katy. Katy opened the fridge and pulled out some left over spaghetti. "Will spaghetti do?" "Perfect." Luc winked. Moments later Luc sat their table scarfing down his food. Adam was slightly disgusted. "Not be rude but...what are you doing here?" Daemon asked. Luc put his fork down and wiped his face with a napkin. "That's right. Better get to business." He took a sip of water and cleared his throat. "So I heard what happened last Saturday." "You know that about that?" Adam asked. "Yeah kid. Pretty much everyone knows. Here's the thing. I had a feeling this was going to happen. About 3 months ago, I asked a close friend of mine to keep an eye on all the origin in my town. He agreed and one night he came to my house. He looked terrified. I mean the dude was shaking. That's when I first heard of it." "Heard of what?" Daemon asked standing up straight. "The Coalition." Adam's heart jumped. "The Coalition?" "I've take it you've heard of it?" Adam nodded. "The origin I fought in the woods. They mentioned it. What is it exactly?" Luc continued. "Apparently hundreds of origin have formed an army. Right now they've got several underground camps spread out across the world. They're gathering as many origin as they can. After the final phase, all the camps will meet at one central location and form a mega army. They plan on taking us out." "Oh my God. You mean they want to take over the world?" Katy asked with her hand over her mouth. "In laymen terms, yeah." "So like the Luxen take over." Daemon said. "No. Worse that the Luxen takeover. Here's the thing Daemon. We had tools to take out the Luxen. We formed an alliance with the Arum and boom we won. But this is origin we're talking about. They are the most powerful beings in the universe. There is nothing on this planet or any other planet that is powerful enough to stop them." "So what are you saying?" Katy asked moving to the other side of Daemon. "What I'm saying is if those origin form an army, we're doomed." Daemon scoffed. "Doomed?" "I'm not kidding. This is serious. We need to make a move to stop them now before it's too late. It won't be easy. I'm just going to tell you that right now. There will be blood. There will be wars and people you care about will die." Adam spoke up. "So what's our next move?" Luc leaned back in his chair. "Listen. I came to warn you guys. The origin are preparing for their first phase. That little attack at the bookstore is only the beginning. There will be a full fledge attack soon. You need to leave. I've got a place where you can stay for a while." "Hold up." Daemon said moving toward Luc. "You want us to just pack up and leave our home just because you say so?" Luc stood up to face Daemon. "I know it sounds crazy but if you stay here, you will die." "I can protect my family. We don't need to leave." Luc rolled his eyes. "Really Daemon? We're not dealing with the DOD or Daedalus. This is origin we're talking about. You're abilities don't even come close to what they can do. I bet you my right eye, you got your butt kicked by those origin at the bookstore." Daemon scowled and shifted his weight. He hated it when Luc was right. Turns out the he was almost always right. Almost. "So what's it's gonna be? You got two choices. You can stay here and try to fight the army of origin and lose or you can pack up your belongings and get the hell out of here. Your call." Luc said leaning against the refrigerator. Adam did not like the sound of this. We're they really going to leave? Daemon stood in the middle of the kitchen deep in thought. "What do you think we should do, Kat?" Katy looked at Daemon. She closed her eyes and let out a deep breath. "I can't believe I'm saying this but I think he's right." "All right. Let's get going then." Daemon turned to face Luc. "You say you got a place?" "Yeah. I think you'll like it. It's pretty good. It's got a great view of the ocean too, if you're into that sorta thing. You guys go ahead and pack what you need. Pack light though, I've only got so much space." Katy, Daemon, and Adam all headed upstairs. While upstairs, Daemon vigorously packed his clothes into a small suitcase while Katy gathered her belongings. "Kitten?" Katy turned at the sound of Daemon's voice. "Yeah?" "Do you think we're doing the right thing? Leaving like this?" Katy hugged Daemon from behind and closed her eyes. "I know this is hard but I think we're making the right move. I saw what those origin can do and honestly I don't want to be around if they do decide to attack. Luc knows what he's talking about. We'll be safe with him." Daemon nodded. "I hope you're right. You got everything you need?" "Yeah I think so. I just need to get some personal items and I'll be ready." Several minutes later, Katy and Daemon came down the stairs, bags in hand. Adam came down a few minutes later. "You ready baby?" Katy asked Adam, reaching for his head. She pushed his hair out his face. "Yeah. I'm ready," he said quietly. "All right let's get out of here." Luc said standing up. Get one more last look at your house, cuz this will probably be the last time you'll see it. In one piece that is." "Wait." Daemon said. "What about my brother? I'm not leaving without him." Luc smiled. "Way ahead of you. They should be all packed and waiting for us." "You know if you just said Dawson was leaving, it would have made my decision a whole lot easier." Daemon said sarcastically. "Yeah I know but I like to see you sweat. All right enough small talk. Let's get going." "Wait stop!" Adam practically yelled. Everyone turned to look at him. "How much room do you have in your place?" he asked Luc. "I've got enough room for everyone kid, don't worry about it." "No, that's not what I'm asking. My girlfriend and her family. We have to take them too." "Woa now hold on kid. I'm being more than generous taking in your family as it is. No one else. They'll just have to fend for themselves. Sorry but that's the way it's gotta be." "Then I'm not leaving. I won't leave without her." "Adam," Daemon said sternly. "No Dad. Either Luc takes Kelsey too or I'm not leaving. It's as simple as that." "Adam son. I understand how you feel but..." "No! If it were mom, you would never leave her behind." Daemon clinched his teeth. He was right. There was no chance he'd ever leave Katy behind. "Hey we're waisting time here. Let's go." Luc said reaching for the door. "Not without Kelsey!" Adam yelled." "Forget it kid. It's a dog eat dog world out there and the only reason I'm even considering helping your family is because we've got history. Everyone else can go to hell for all I care." Adam scoffed. "You didn't strike me as the person who would understand. I mean what would you know? You've never been in love before." Luc froze. The kid was wrong. He had been in love before and knew exactly how it felt. He knew what it was like to lose someone you love too. Luc turned around and looked at Adam. "Let's go get your girl, kid."
