The alarm clock blared at Adam Black as he lied in bed. Ugh. He couldn't believe it was Monday already. He rolled over and pressed the snooze button. "Just five more minutes," he thought. Adam had no complaints about his life. He loved it. He really did. His mom and dad were pretty cool. He loved his friends and his smoking hot girlfriend. School wasn't bad.  His aunt Dee was like the grandparents he never had, spoiling him whenever his parents weren't looking. His Uncle Dawson wasn't bad. He was cool when he wanted to be. The alarm clock went off again, interrupting Adam's thoughts. He was just about to hit snooze again when his door swung wide open. "Adam Black. You'd better get up now or you're going to be late. Again." That would be mom. She could be a drill sergeant at times. "Ugh ok mom. Geez I'm getting up." She smiled. "Good. Hurry up and get dressed. I made breakfast." Adam's ears perked up at the word breakfast. He was hungry as hell. He got up, washed his face,  brushed his teeth and hair and put on his favorite grey sweater and jeans. He grabbed his brown contacts and gently put them in, covering his unusually colored eyes. He added some cologne, grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs. He could hear his mom giggle. Probably because his dad was "teasing" her like he always did.  "Come here Kitten. I want to pet you.""Stop it Daemon I'm not in the mood." "That's too bad cuz I'm always in the mood." Adam rolled his eyes a little too hard as he casually walked into the kitchen making his presence known. His dad had his arms tightly wrapped around his mom's waist as she stood at the stove scrambling eggs. Adam had to admit his parents were kinda cute at times. But not now when all he wanted to do was eat and get to school before the late bell rang. Adam headed to the fridge to grab some orange juice. To his surprise and dismay the orange carton he looked for was not in the fridge. He scrunched his face. "Sorry,  kid you slept in," Daemon teasingly said . "So... you drank all the orange juice?" "Pretty much yeah." Adam was disappointed. He couldn't have breakfast without orange juice. He was sure no civilized human could. Then again he wasn't exactly human. "I'm going to the store today sweetie and I'll get you all the orange juice you want," his mom said as she firmly pushed his dad's arms away. He didn't let go and two were in a almost tug of war. She finally wiggled free and placed a large plate of eggs on the table along with a tall glass of milk. Milk wasn't too bad Adam thought. He sat down at the table and his dad followed. Adam didn't wait for the eggs to cool. He dug in ate almost half the plate in less than 30 seconds. Mom placed another plate of eggs in front of dad. His dad smiled devilishly at his mom. "Thanks Kitten," he said, his green eyes twinkling. His mom smiled sheepishly back and started to fix herself a plate. "So Adam," his dad started. "You ready for prom?" "I'm so ready. I can't wait to see what Kelsey looks like in that dress," Adam said without looking up from his plate. "So you two staying out late? After prom I mean. " Adam was about to answer when his mom's voice interrupted his next sentence. "Daemon?! What kind of ideas are you giving our son?" "I'm not giving him any ideas. I'm just asking him a question." "You already know the answer to that question," said as she sat at the table. "He'll be back by 11." "Oh come on Kat. Let the kid have some fun. It's his senior prom." His mom sat at the table arms folded as she shook her head. "Unbelievable," she said. "We'll talk about his later," his dad said to Adam as he winked. Adam smiled and glanced at the clock on the microwave. "Oh crap. I'm going to be late." Adam jumped from the table nearly knocking over the glass of milk. He grabbed his bag and turned to face his parents. "Bye guys. I gotta go." "Bye sweetie. Have fun at school," his mom said as she kissed him on the cheek. Adam smiled and turned to leave. "Bye kid, don't do anything I wouldn't do," his dad said. "Yeah Dad got it." "Oh! Don't forget your lunch!" His mom ran to fridge and pulled out a neatly packed lunch sack. "Thanks Mom," Adam said as he took the lunch from his her. "You should get going now. I love you baby" Adam nodded at his mom's kind words and turned to walk out the door."Oh Adam," his dad called out. "Yeah?" Adam responded. "Don't forget to pick up your cousin."
