My Captor, My Love

Chapter 3

Beth had a long talk with Chloe.  She realized she was jealous that Daryl had found someone. 

Eventually they all sought refuge in Alexandria but the shit hit the fan when Mac overheard Beth and Chloe talking about her jealousy of Chloe and Daryl when they had begun.

Beth went to try to smooth things over with Mac but the sight that greeted her when she walked in made her realize there will be no smoothing over.  Mac was fucking the big breasted slut Amber who had vowed to Beth that she would take him from her. 

"Ya can get the fuck outta here," Mac told her, "Cause you've been replaced."

Beth felt stupid as she sat down in the grass by the park, after she gashed her wrist open.  She knew Mac wouldn't give a shit if she died.    After all, like he said, she's been replaced.  But Maggie and Glenn would be upset.  Rick, Carl, Carol and Michonne would also be upset.  And she's sure Daryl and Chloe would be upset too.

Feeling woozy from the blood loss she had made her way over to the infirmary.  She was staggering over there until suddenly she was off her feet. She didn't fall; someone had picked her up.  And that was the last thing she remembered before everything went black.

When she woke up, she heard a commotion.  She heard Mac yelling, "Ya got no right to keep me from seein' if my woman's ok!"

"I do when it's you that did this!" Daryl yelled back.

"I didn't slit her wrist!" Mac yelled.

"Nah," Daryl said.  "Ya just made sure ya were fuckin' tha' whore when she walked in so she'd see it! And if that ain't enough you tell her ya get the fuck out cause she's been replaced!  Tha' was the last thing she sai' before she passed out and if she died tha' woulda been her last memory!"

"She wanted you!" Mac yelled.

"She didn't want him!" Chloe yelled at Mac. "She was just a little jealous.  She felt worse that she hurt you from her jealousy because she said she loved you and you loved her.  Guess she was wrong about you lovin' her."

"I was," Beth said.  "But Daryl was wrong. My last thought woulda been how much of an idiot I was for tryin' ta kill myself over someone who didn't give a fuck about me."

"I do!" Mac shouted.  "I'm here ain't I?"

"Mac, please just go away," Beth said as she started sobbing.  "Amber said she was going to take you away from me.  Said I got nothin' that would keep a man interested for the long haul.  Said she'd get you and you'll tell me that I've been replaced.  And damned if it didn't happen word for word."

Mac knew he fucked up royally.  As he fucked Amber and said the words that had damned his and Beth's relationship, he knew he hurt her beyond repair.  All he wanted to do was make her feel like he felt. But he's pretty sure she didn't hurt him a fraction as bad as he hurt her.  He crushed her.  He broke her.  And he had no idea how to undo his hurt.

Maggie turned her back on Beth.  She didn't want to hear Beth's explanations or excuses.  Besides, it seemed Tara had replaced her as sister long before this happened.  Maggie had been pushing her away for a while.  She had seen the signs back in the prison.  And she had literally seen the signs when she had seen 'Glenn go to Terminus- Maggie' as she made her way in the woods with Mac way back when.

Now Beth didn't think about killing herself.  She thought about leaving Alexandrea.  She thought about going out on her own and not looking back.  So, she grabbed a duffle bag, some supplies, a gun and her Bowie knife and walked out of the walls on the safe zone.  She had left a note for Carol.  She had asked in the note that nobody come looking for her.

Deep down she had hoped that Mac or Maggie would come.  She felt like an idiot.  Neither gave a shit about her yet she hopes they come after her to make her stay?

Her head was hanging low as she walked.  She heard a rustling of leaves and unsheathed her knife, ready to take out what she thought was a walker.  She felt relief at seeing it was Mac.  She was about to turn her back and keep walking, but she had seen how bad he looked.  Guilt, remorse and pain was written all over his face.  He looked like a man who had made the biggest mistake of his life.  He looked like he wanted to take it back.

"I'm so sorry baby," Mac said.  Beth was shocked to hear how choked up he was and that tears were forming in his eyes. "Please come back to me."

"But I thought I was replaced?" Beth questioned.

"That slut could never replace you," Mac said.  "I was an idiot and I promise you I'll never hurt you again."

"I'll come back," Beth said.  "But you better make it clear to her that she is to stay away from you."

"I told her and so did Daryl," Mac said.

About a week later, Beth heard Amber hitting on Mac.  She knew that neither knew she was there and she knew she could find out if Mac would go back on his word.  Deep down she was worried that Mac might fool around with Amber behind her back.  She forgave him but she had been very hurt by him. The outcome of this conversation could either help her trust Mac again or end it for good.

"C'mon, Mac," Amber cooed.  "Ya know ya want me."

"Never wanted ya," Mac said.  "Was pissed at Beth.  Notice I stopped fuckin' ya and threw ya out after she ran out?  It was a mistake and I never shoulda hurt the woman I love.  I ain't never hurtin' her again."

"She might find herself hurt," Amber said with a smirk.

"If you harm one hair on my woman's head you'll become walker chow!" Mac promised.

Amber paled at the threat.  This is a woman who never even seen a walker up close, much less had to fight one.  This was the kind of woman Mac and Daryl thought they deserved once upon a time.  It took an apocalypse and Beth and Chloe to show Mac and Daryl they deserved to be treated with respect. 

Beth came out of hiding and gave Mac and very passionate kiss.  Mac smirked.  "Does this mean I'm outta the doghouse?"

"It most certainly does," Beth said giddily.  "I talked to Maggie."

"Yeah?"  Mac said.

"She said I have to stop doing stupid things, like trying to kill myself because my boyfriend's being an asshat," Beth said.  When Mac made a face, she said, "Hey, it was her words.  Anyways, she said I'm going to be an aunt and I have to be around for my niece or nephew.  And you are going to be an uncle."

"Gotta be married to be an uncle," Mac said.

"Not necessarily.  Rick is gonna be Uncle Rick and I ain't married to him," Beth said.

"But what if I wanted to be?" Mac said.  "Beth, would you marry me?"

Beth was shocked when Mac got down on one knee and even presented a ring to her.

"Yes!  Of course I'll marry you!" Beth gushed.

Mac and Beth were quickly married and Daryl and Chloe followed soon after.  And not too long after Maggie gave birth to her baby girl whom they named Josephine Annette Rhee, Beth learned that she was pregnant.
