Stiles' pov:

I had drifted off to sleep as soon as Lydia had which was very quickly. Honestly, I couldn't believe that I had fallen asleep next to her. A few years ago, this would've been my dream, but I know that this was a one time thing and that Lydia is hurting. I'm only here to support her and make her feel better.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring at 6:00 am. I groaned and rolled onto my side before hopping out of bed, trying not to wake Lydia. Too late, she was already staring up at me with her delicate green eyes.

"Thank you again, Stiles. I'm sorry I scared you. I think I'm finally in a bit of a better place. Because of you." She smiled.

I smiled back and felt my heart skip a beat. I had made a difference in her life. For the better.

"I'm also going to school today." She added.

"Really? Do you want a ride?" I asked.

"That would be great. 7:15, as usual?" She questioned, remembering the routine.

"Yep. See you soon."

Lydia's pov:

Before Stiles left, he had put away the blankets on the floor and told me to text him if I changed my mind about school. I wasn't going to change my mind, I knew it was time to face the world.

I sat down in front of my vanity and observed my straw like hair that hadn't been washed in days. I took a quick shower and realized that I wouldn't have time to dry my hair, so I put it up in a clean ponytail. I rarely wore my hair up, but my natural hair was quite frizzy and I didn't have time to do much else. I sat down and began applying makeup. Foundation, eyeshadow, waterproof mascara, just in case and a light pink lip gloss. I felt a little more like my old self.

I walked over to my closet and chose a pair of light wash skinny jeans with a maroon coloured blouse. I put a long chained sliver necklace on and slipped on a pair of brown boots. I was ready to go, just in time. Soon, Stiles texted me and said he was outside. I grabbed a brown suede purse and said goodbye to my mom, shocking her that I was going to school. I strutted out to Stiles' jeep and hopped into the passenger seat. He smiled at me and said "ready?"

"Ready." I smiled back.

As we pulled into the parking lot, I didn't feel nervous. I felt like my usual self. We found Scott waiting for us by his motorcycle. As soon as he saw us, a smile smile spread across his lips.

"Hey, Lydia. Good to see you back." He said.

"Wow, thanks buddy. Nice to see you too." Stiles said sarcastically.

We all giggled a little and walked into school together. As we walked, a few people stopped to tell me they were sorry for my loss. Even a junior named Stacy came up to me and said "hi, Lydia. I just wanted to say that I can't even imagine what you're going through."

I looked over my right shoulder and smiled at Stiles before looking back at Stacy.

"It's been tough, but I have really amazing people helping me through it." I responded happily.

We continued to make our way through the hall until I spotted Allison's locker. I stopped at the sight of it. There were cards from people who wrote that they missed her plastered over the metal door. I slowly approached the cards and didn't even recognize half of the names. It almost made me angry. These people didn't even know her and now they're acting all sad like they were her best friend. It's just wrong.

"Lydia..." Stiles says, grabbing my hand.

I swat it away and a few tears fill my eyes. She has a memorial on her locker. She's really gone.

I few feet down, I spotted Aiden's locker with the same thing. A small memorial from people who didn't even know him.

"You sure you want to do this? I'll take you home. I don't mind missing first period." Stiles offered.

"No, Stiles. I'm fine. Really. I better go, see you at lunch. Bye guys." I said.

It was a long day. People stopped me in the halls, people I had never talked to before. Teachers tried to excuse me from class, but I declined their offers. Stiles drove me home and I thanked him, telling him I'd see him tomorrow.

When I walked in the house, my mom was sitting in the living room with a bag from Macy's beside her.

"Hi, sweetie. How was school?" She asked, noticing me standing in the front hall.

"It was okay." I replied.

"I picked up a dress for Aiden's..."

"You're allowed to say funeral, mom." I interrupted.

"Okay, funeral. Do you want to try it on?" She said, pulling it out of the bag.

It was a black lace knee length dress. Your typical funeral dress.

"I thought you could wear it with your black heels. The ones with the red on the sole." She suggested.

"Yeah, maybe." I said, grabbing the dress and going to my room. I didn't bother trying it on, I didn't really care.

I sighed and sauntered over to my desk, plopping down on my purple plastic desk chair. I opened the top drawer on the right and pulled out an envelope entitled "Aiden" with a small heart next to it. His parents had asked me to speak at his funeral. They always liked me and wanted to honour the relationship I had with Aiden. I took the lined paper out of the envelope and stared at my single sentence. This was going to be a long night filled with lots of coffee breaks and looking up synonyms for a handful of words.
