Sehun stared blankly at the large gate in front of him. He had found this place pretty quickly-not surprising- but there seemed to be some sort of mechanism required if you wanted to get in. Something that he didn't have. Something that he wasn't able to identify. There's some item that we have to get, to be allowed in, right? What is it?
Blinking as he glanced up and down the large structure, he tried to see if it was possible to scale the gate. Judging from the steepness of it...nope. Not unless he suddenly gained anti-gravitational power to help him walk up. Anyway, going over still wasn't the same as going in. Scratching his head, he decided that maybe it would be best to try and find whatever would let him in, rather than wait for who-knows-what was out there to find him.
Sparing one last glance at the gate, he quickly memorised the colours that were painted on it in a non-linking Venn diagram format- black, white and red- before forcing himself to walk away, cocking his head as he tried to remember why the red colour bothered him so much. He hadn't been walking for very long when he spotted the figure of someone. Staying hidden, he observed. It was that guy. The one who had ditched Sehun and Jongin when the police had found and arrested them.
He was just sitting down looking around himself. Sehun almost chuckled. He was like an oblivious deer, too exposed, too easy to prey on. Sehun could remember the last time he saw this guy before the cops caught up to him and Jongin. Back then, this person's hair had been such a princessy peach colour and he used to look far frailer than he did now. Now, he looked like he was ready to throw down whenever. Like he was totally prepared. Maybe this guy had sussed out how to get inside the facility?
"Hey." Sehun said as he made himself visible. Luhan jolted at the sound and stood quickly, immediately in a defensive stance. Totally ready to throw down whenever. When he saw that it was Sehun, he didn't drop his guard or the stance, but Sehun could see the flicker of regret pass through his gaze before he closed himself off. Raising both hands, Sehun made it clear that he had nothing to beat him around the head with. Luhan dropped the stance but still eyed him, wary.
"If I wanted to hurt you, you would never have seen it coming." Sehun was indignant. Luhan snorted but said nothing, glancing at him briefly. His eyes landed on Sehun's arm and Sehun turned his head to look at it as well. There was a red sleeveband around his bicep. Eh? Lifting his head, Sehun observed Luhan.
"You have one too. It's purple. So, have you figured how to get back in there?" He said while Luhan was distractedly looking at his arm. The Chinese youth shook his head as he pulled his eyes away from the band wrapped around his sleeve.
"No, I literally just came to. I don't even know where the facility is. You sound like you do though." He added after a pause. Sehun shrugged, deciding not to tell him anything quite yet. He started walking, away from the direction of the gates, knowing full well that the pretty little guy would follow him.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Sehun bit down his smile as he turned to face the young faced youth.
"Well, obviously, I'm trying to find any something that can get us back into that facility."
"So you've found it?"
"I never said that. If you were listening before they knocked us into the next day, they said that we had to find items that were specific to us. I guess we have to find items that match the colours on our sleeves." Luhan shook his head.
"No, something like that would be too easy for this group of people. We're criminals composing of hackers, mercenaries and confidential theives who have been outrunning the police and government forces for years. No, this is a bigger game. Ugh, where's Baekhyun when I need him?" He muttered to himself. Sehun's head tilted, as was his habit when he was puzzled, and his lips formed a pout.
"Why do you need him?" Luhan's head shot up at Sehun's question, and he almost tripped over a tree root when his focus was broken. He sent the younger male a look as he rubbed his shin. His body still kind of hurt from that punishment before and this did the opposite of easing his pain.
"Baekhyun is an excellent thinker, more so than you could ever imagine. To be honest, I don't think he's even showed me and Yeol anything near to a full look of what he's capable of. When we were referred to at our detaining institution, they always stated our crimes as a form of name and shame. Gave the guys who were in for deeper things a great rep and kept the peace. Sorta. Anytime they referred to Baek, they said his name and age and that was all. He only told me and Chanyeol that he hacked and got traced because Yeol kept on mocking him and it pissed him off." Sehun was silent as he wondered just who the mouthy little brunet was.
It was as the two were making their way through a clearing that Sehun paused. Who's here? Luhan stopped walking as well and looked at him, surprised.
"Why?" Sehun ignored him and moved quietly. He was almost positive that he had heard breathing from this direction.
"I think someone else was just here." He murmured, his movements slow and silent. When he reached the brush of bushes though, there was almost no sign of anything having ever been there. Sehun knew though. Whoever had been there had listened to their conversation.
"So, you think that someone was eavesdropping?" Sehun didn't turn to look at Luhan, but the Chinese youth could see that the way he glanced around the area meant that he thought so.
"Why would they run away though? Wouldn't it be better for everyone to work together?" Luhan asked, still watching Sehun as he paced. For some reason, Sehun couldn't shake this strange feeling, like they were still being watched. Are there cameras here or something? When he turned back to look at Luhan, he saw that the youth was moving to touch a nearby tree base.
"Hey, you never answered my question. Would we not have a better chance of success if we all got together? We haven't really had food, we've been out and about in a wild jungle for who knows how long, it's summer and everyone is going to run out of energy soon. So why would any one of us run away from each other when it would be better to go around in a group?" Sehun blinked at Luhan's back.
"No. It wouldn't." The pair froze at the sound of the clear, teasing voice. Lifting their heads, Sehun exhaled a breath, otherwise remaining silent whilst Luhan openly laughed.
"You brats, don't know you it's rude to listen in on other people's conversations?" He was responded with two wolfish grins.
"It doesn't classify as eavesdropping if we were here first and you came and started talking. And good job kid. You actually knew we were here, just couldn't find us." Sehun's expression was a blank mask in the face of the compliment.
"And anyways, hyung, this place means that survival cancels out manners. We don't have time to sit around waiting to be eaten by making sure not to eavesdrop. We need to get our asses back to that facility, there has to be something waiting for us there." The two jumped down from their places in the tree, landing lightly on the ground. The smaller of the pair indicated to Sehun, who's voice was as blank as his face.
"What?"
"I have this very strong feeling that you know where the facility might be. Turns out, I know how to get in. So, take us there." Baekhyun smirked.
