Mid-March Seeder

One white-bearded dandelion,
the first to make it through to seed this year -
no globe of feathered space
                                                         for this rough, flora-beeste,
but creamy block of close compacted silks*,
hemmed in,
                          from which, even now,
real ripe seeds are fraying away -
family fragments.
                                         Winters long arraignment,
stitched-up case unpicking at the witness box,
paradigm thesis, oh, so slow unraveling -
these few rare notions,
                                              refugee children
                                                                                   liberated
to a cold wind.
