"Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see how beautiful they are, but everyone else can. People are like that."
---
butterfly, butterfly, won't you come to me
i just need a single wish you see
the thorns surrounding my heart, they will not go away
for many years, i have accepted their stay
yet i still lay awake at night
wondering which wish is truly right.
do i ask for my mother, the one who gave me so much and who left me alone
when i was still young, with no sins to atone
or do i ask for someone to slice through the thorns
and from the cage, the the crying child within, borne.
butterfly, butterfly, won't you please
i no longer enjoy nature's breeze
as i sit here, the weight upon my shoulders will not be gone
and forces me to stay up til the light of dawn.

[in which a insomniac [fem] ponders that if she had a wish, just one, would she wish for her mother who had sacrificed her life to give her to the world, or for someone to pull away those thorns and find the grieving child beneath the facade and hold her tight]

i wasn't planning on entering, but i kind of created a bit of the above poem shortly after checking out butterfly quotes so i made one XD
