I slowly peel my eyes open and let a small smile reach my lips as I'm greeted by the sight of my usual ginger bread and milk on my bedside table. I reach out and begin to nibble on the treat as I swing my legs over the edge of my bed. Sitting there, I look out the large balcony window and see that it's a gorgeous day, perfect for riding. I quickly jump off my bed and go to my closet, pulling out a red blouse and black corset along with my tight black riding pants. Finishing off the look with my knee high black riding boots, I rush downstairs, giving my uncle a greeting before pushing open the front doors and heading straight to the stables. I'm happy to see Aiden is already there, saddled and waiting. I'd have to thank Digweed for that later.
Hopping onto Aiden's back, I take off. One of my uncles only rules was to never go in the woods. His stories of bandits and robbers have been enough to keep me away until recently, and breaking his rule is not something I think that I'll regret. The forest is always beautiful and peaceful and the perfect place to relax. As I reach the edge of the forest I slide off of Aiden and enter, not really having any destination in mind. I eventually find myself at the edge of a pond. Sitting down I stare into my reflection. My long black hair was pulled into a tight ponytail and my pale complexion was still a little red from going so fast on Aiden.
My thoughts then started to wander to my cousin who was supposed to move in with us. I know little about her, her name is Maria Merryweather. Her being a Merryweather means she's clearly more directly related to Uncle Benjamin then I am. I won't pretend that I'm happy about her coming. She's a city girl so there really isn't much hope for her being any better than a preppy little princess. To make it worse, she'll be coming with her nanny. Someone to wait on her hand and foot, probably a shriveled, fragile stick with the illusion that she knows how a proper girl should act.
I find myself being stirred from my thoughts as the sound of voices drift to my ears. I slowly stand from my spot by the pond and curiously follow the sound. They eventually lead me to a clearing where two boys are huddled together. Could these be the infamous robbers and bandits? I crouch down behind a boulder to listen in on what they said.
"What if something goes wrong?" One said urgently. The other shook his head.
"Soon enough the curse will take place and those dreaded Merryweathers will finally be rid of." Curse? Rid of? Uncle definitely hasn't brought up anything of the sort. Slowly I stand, deciding I need to question Uncle about these things , until a strong hand grabs me while another covers my mouth. Before I have the chance to do anything, I'm yanked up and pulled out of my hiding place.
"Look at what we have here Robin" says my captor. The boy that could only have been Robin looks up from his conversation, a smug smirk growing on his face as my captor brings me into the clearing. Up close, I'm surprised to see a rather good looking boy in front of me.
He looked to be around 18 with longish, brown, curly hair, a black bowler hat, red scarf, and poorly done eye makeup that did a pretty good job of highlighting his soft brown eyes. I won't deny I was impressed, but the attractive, smug smirk he was giving was certainly irritating.
"What do we have here?" He asks studying me. The boy holding me was about to answer until I bite down on his hand. He yelps, but I just roll my eyes. Pathetic.
"I know how to talk you know." I grumbled. Robin chuckles and the boy holding me was about to hit me until Robin put out a hand to stop him.
"Who are you?" He asks me with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"I don't think you need to know." I retort glaring at him. He takes a step towards me until he stood before my face and gave me another smirk.
