My eyes fluttered open and I stretched, yawning. Sitting up, I look around and find unfamiliar surroundings. Where was I? I jolted completely awake, alarmed, until the previous days events flooded into my memory. I was at the De Noirs fortress. I had left my uncle because of the selfish brat known as Maria, who took what little life I had had at the manor. In four days she and the rest of the residents in that house will be gone. Sighing, I flop back down on the bed. Why me?

I didn't have the chance to ponder that question because a loud rap on the door caused me to jump and tumble off the side of my bed. I landed on the floor with a loud thump and I heard the door fly open and a panicked voice speaking quickly.

"Isabelle are you alright, what was that-" It seemed at that moment the intruder saw me on the floor and stopped.

Sighing and sitting up I glare and find Robin staring at me, desperately trying to contain laughter. He failed and a loud snort escaped his mouth as he burst out laughing. Beyond mad at him I reach for the closest thing to me which just happens to be a book. Taking hold of it, I chuck it at his head and he just barely gets out of the way in time. He begins speaking, though it's impossible to understand due to his fits of manly giggles.

"Di-did I wa---wake you?" He asks, clearly very amused. I flash him a dark smile.

"No, not at all, I was just examining this fascinating speck of dust on the ground." He finally calms his laughter and gives me a big grin.

"Well I hope you're done inspecting, because you and me are going out."

"What?" I ask suddenly alarmed. He rolls his eyes. "Not on a date idiot, If you want to live with us you need to learn how to be a proper De Noir."

I groan. "I've told you, I already know how to fight! And besides, the sun hasn't even risen yet!" He rolls his eyes.

"That's not all there is to being a De Noir. Can you fight on a horse? Can you travel using trees? Can you set a trap? Can you hunt? Can you do bird calls? How well do you know the forest? And it's actually in the process of rising."

"What?" He points out my window and I see the sun is indeed in the process of rising.

"Alright alright I get it, and if you must know, I can set a trap, I can hunt, and I'm failing to see how bird calls are relevant." He chuckles.

"All in good time love, now get ready, you have lots to learn." I sigh but decide I wasn't going to be able to fall back asleep. I walked to the bureau and pull out clothes, then turning around I see Robins still standing there.

"You gonna go?" I question, quirking an eyebrow. He shrugged.

"I don't see why I need to." I bite the inside of my cheek and glare at him. He chuckles.

"Alright, I'll go this time."

"This time? You will go every time." I say, starting to push him towards the door.

"So there will be more times?" He questioned with a grin. "That's good to know." I let out a growl of frustration and he finally complies, leaving me to change.

Locking the door I pull on the white blouse and black corset along with black shorts and my combat boots. They must have prepared themselves for my arrival. I guess they just knew I would choose to come. After putting my hair up in a ponytail I decide I'm ready for what ever he throws at me and I leave my room.

Only to be met by an arrow. It just barely missed my face, lodging itself in the wall just next to my head. Attached to it I saw a note, and taking it off I see its a note from Robin telling me to meet him at the stables. So maybe I wont be ready for everything he throws at me, but it was a figure of speech.
