"Keep your hoods up and don't draw attention to yourselves," Paul warned.
"We'll be fine!" Louis insisted. "We're just going to get McDonald's and its not a big deal that you have plans with your family."
"Call me if you get into any trouble though, ok? Maybe someone else could get the food? Or at least go with you?" He still didn't seem 100% ok with us going to the store alone.
"We'll be fine Paul. Promise," I said on our way out the door.
It was a short walk to the nearest McDonald's and nobody felt like driving and wasting this beautiful Spring day. I hung back slightly, taking in all that was around me. I unintentionally looked into the windows of all the buildings we passed, just curious to see what was happening inside.
Ambling along, I suddenly stopped at the sight inside one building with a complete glass wall facing the street. A girl in a black leotard and pink tights pulled her left leg up and behind her head in front of a wall made of mirrors. She gripped a ballet barre with her right hand to steady herself as she attempted to stretch her leg even farther.
'She's so flexible!' I thought.
She let go of her leg and let it return to the floor as she noticed my amazed expression. The girl smiled and took a couple steps across the room, closer to the window, and waved.
I waved back.
"Niall come on!" Liam called from a good block or two ahead. "What are you doing?"
She motioned for me to come inside and as much as I wanted to, I shook my head apologetically and ran to catch up with the others. I glanced behind me after a couple steps and saw that she had pressed her body to the window and was watching me run away.
I waved again and watched her return the gesture before I could no longer see the building with the glass window-wall.
"""""
The next day I snuck out to pass the building with the window wall again. I just wanted to see if the girl was there. I hurried down the roads, not paying attention to anything except where I was going. When I reached the building, I flattened myself against the wall and peered inside. There she was, spinning round and round across the floor. She was so beautiful; so graceful. I knocked on the window softly.
When she stopped and her eyes found mine, she smiled. I waved and smiled back. Once again, she came closer and motioned for me to come inside. I nodded and started toward the door on the other side of the building.
"Niall! There you are!" A black car pulled up next to me and the window rolled down to reveal Paul. "Lets go! We were worried sick about you."
"Paul I..." I wanted to see the girl. I wanted to go inside. I wanted to explain why I was here. But he was already mad at me for sneaking off by the way his jaw was clenched. "In the car. Now."
"""""
"Where are you going now?" Louis groaned during lunch the next day.
"Uh..bathroom."
"You said that ten minutes ago and Harry found you by the front door," he but his lip.
Ok so I wasn't the best at sneaking off. But I wanted to meet that girl so bad it hurt. I was going insane. It was need like no other and all I knew was that I needed to meet her. "I know I... I just really have to go somewhere. Please? Don't tell Paul. Just give me twenty minutes?"
They all stared at me as if I was insane, but eventually Zayn waved his hand and sighed. "Go."
I burst from the room and practically ran down the streets. When I got there and looked in the window like normal, it was empty. The room was empty.
"What the hell Niall?" And here came Harry who had followed me to see where I was always disappearing to.
She was gone. No. She was always here around this time. This is the time I always come and she's always here. Harry was coming faster and faster and I begged the girl to appear.
"Niall don't ignore me!" Harry yelled. He was practically next to me now and I turned away from the building without hope. And then there was a light tap on my back. I turned just as Harry approached me and came face to face with the girl in the black leotard and pink tights.
"Hi, I'm Kaitlin."
