Chapter 6: Interrupted

Peeta's POV

I stare at the beauty in front of me as everything starts to sink in. She's the girl I've been trying to find for years and fate had to bring us together with a fake relationship. I thought it was already impossible to find the girl who was always in my dreams, in my thoughts and in my heart because of how big this world is. But it's actually true. This world is a small one and I'm so lucky to have seen her again.

Her confused expression makes a grin appear on my face and I can't stop the small laugh that escapes my lips. She studies me with a confused smile playing on her lips.

"What?" she asks and shows her bright teeth.

"It's you, Katniss, the girl I ha-" and suddenly I find an annoying sound interrupting me.

Katniss' eyes widen and she apologetically smiles at me and brings out her phone, excusing herself for a minute. She turns away from me and leans against a wall that's about six feet away from my current place.

I place my hand over my face and shake my head. Dammit, I was about to tell her about my realization. That phone really had to interrupt us.

"Haymitch, look, you forced me into this thing and I am currently busy, okay?" Katniss sighs.

"But- no I didn't mean that."

I laugh again at Katniss' argument with Haymitch. That drunkard manager is really a handful. After a few moments, I see her hang up in frustration and turn back to me.

"I'm sorry about that, it's just Haymitch and how stupid he is." I nod my head in understanding.

"Anyways, what were you gonna say?" she asks with her eyebrows raised.

"Oh no, it's not that important. I could just tell you about it some other time. I think it's better if you get home now. It's getting pretty late." I point to the sky where the sunset is almost gone.

"Okay then. I'm gonna go now." she smiles.

"Wait, let me drive you home." I insist and she hesitantly agrees.

"Okay, fine."

The rest of the day goes by a blur. I drive Katniss to her house after she showed me the directions, I drove back home and now, here I am laying on my bed staring at the TV screen. Our managers were successful in the first day already.

"Katniss and Peeta Mellark dating? Reports say that these two have been spotted holding hands and walking around the streets of L. A. this afternoon. Are these two officially dating?"

I sigh and turn the TV off. I grab my phone from beside me and open Twitter only to be bombarded by millions of notifications. It's not like I'm not used to it though. I check Katniss' twitter and follow her to make the suspicions grow. A popup blocks my screen and it's a message from my manager so I press it.

Very good, you guys are now trending.

If you didn't know, Effie Trinket is my manager. She's a loyal person but acts like a Barbie most of the time. I open Twitter again and there it goes. Fans have already created a ship name and that hashtag is trending already.

I don't know what to say about this. I mean, it's all fake. Nothing in what we're doing is real and that is what I hate about this. Now that I know that Katniss is the girl I have been trying to find for years.

I open my messaging app and send a message to Katniss.

Peeta 6:17 PM

Lunch tomorrow?

I wait impatiently for her to reply. It takes a few minutes before I finally receive a reply from her.

Katniss 6:23

Sorry I'm busy

Peeta 6:23

Well then on Saturday

Katniss 6:24

I'm going to my sister's ballet recital

Peeta 6:24

Then I'm coming with you then I'll take you out for dinner

Katniss 6:27

You really don't take no for an answer, do you?

Peeta 6:28

Nope

Katniss 6:30

Ok fine

I smile and set my phone down. This girl is really something.

Hey guys I hope you all liked the chapter.

I'm sorry if it was short. This is just a filler for something that's going to happen in the next chapter. Oh and Jadine looks so cute in that video. Any Filipinos?
