Jess slowly crept down the stairs of his quiet house, making sure not to make any noise that would wake his family. He had to make sure he was quiet since May Belle was a light sleeper.

He then silently made his way to the door, carefully making sure the door wouldn't make any noise as it opened.

"Jess?" A sweet soothing voice called from the couch.

He pointed his phone's flashlight at the owner of the voice and saw May Belle who had been sleeping by the couch.

"Where are you going...?" May Belle asked sleepily, rubbing her sleepy eyes. Jess looked at her younger sister's face, noticing that there were dry tear marks on her face.

"Why aren't you upstairs?" He dodged the question and shone the light around the room to make sure no one else was there.

It was odd how his parents let their 12 year old daughter sleep on the couch alone in the middle of the night. Back when he was younger, they wouldn't even let him stay up late till 10 pm.

"I thought that you'd be sneaking out of the house," she answered. "And it looks like you are."

Jess looked at her with a blank expression before a small smile came to his face. His sister always knew him best, second to Leslie that is. It was strange how May Belle seemed to be so perceptive at her age.

"I'm just gonna be out for a bit." He patted her head and then wore his beanie before walking to the door. "Don't tell mom and dad."

May Belle nodded to his request. Jess then carefully opened the door and went outside, slowly closing the door behind him. Thanks May he smiled, glancing over his shoulders before closing the door completely.

The cold wind touched his skin and it strangely felt pleasant. For the first time in a while, it seemed like he was actually happy to be outside for once. He made his way to the Burke's home and noticed that there was a car parked outside with people still inside. It was the same old vintage Italian car that Jess remembered passing by when he was younger.

Not knowing what to do, he hid behind the bushes and watched as the couple walked the blonde haired girl covered in a blanket inside the house.

     "Leslie..." Jess mumbled.

There, there she was, just a few feet away from him. Just open the door, and he could see her again.
But no. He decided to take the harder path instead, afraid that he would be turned away. He went to the side of the house where Leslie's room window was located at.

Jess looked at the window where Leslie's old room was, assuming that she'd be sleeping back there. The lights were off, meaning that Leslie wasn't in her room yet so he waited, and waited.

After almost half an hour had passed, he was starting to doubt whether she was going to sleep in her old room or not. He decided to sit on the patch of grass and leaned on the tree behind him, occasionally looking up to check the window while fiddling with the twigs nearby.

     "Jess?"

He immediately looked up,  surprised at the sudden voice.

"M-Mr Burke...!" Jess looked at the man in front of him and indeed it was him. He still looked the same, just a bit older than before but still younger than his own father. Jess abruptly stood up. "I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to do anything it's just—"

"Come on in," Mr Burke interrupted him. He smiled at him casually, just like before.

Well, that was the plan, to get into the Burke's home and see Leslie...
