Sunday mornings were always a pain for Jess. The only thing that he hated about mornings was that he'd always feel his body aching after waking up. Since he had a whole day of doing his chores on weekdays and Saturdays, he almost had no time to do his assignments so he always uses Sunday as the day to do them. But that was not the case for him today because of his plans with Leslie that he made yesterday.
"So where are you going again?" May Belle asked, watering her 'May Belle flowers' in the garden house.
"I don't know," he shrugged his shoulders and helped her fertilize some other plants. "She didn't say."
"Can I come?"
Jess chuckled. "From what I know, you probably can't."
"Why not?"
"She didn't seem too keen on talking about it so I doubt she'll even let you go."
May Belle showed a pout later and then continued on with watering her plants. The 7-year-old May Belle would probably whine and annoy the heck out of Jess just to go but she thought that it'd be useless, now that she's 12 that is.
"What time is it?" He suddenly asked.
May Belle jerked her small head to the old clock that was lying on the stool. "1...27. No, no - 1:28 PM."
Jess arranged the potted plants one last time before turning on the water sprinkler without May Belle's knowledge and going out of the garden house.
"Jess!" He heard her scream his name.
He trotted back to his house and walked upstairs to take a shower.
When Jess had reached the Burke's, there was a white car parked in front of the porch with Leslie leaning on the bonnet of the car with an older man. Noticing his arrival, Bill and Judy greeted him. Bill then pulled Jess into the house while Judy went to have a small talk with her daughter and the older man.
"Thank you for accompanying Leslie." Bill gave him a small smile.
Jess nodded. "Where is she going anyways?"
"She didn't tell you?"
He looked uneasily at Bill and then shook his head.
"Well then I guess you'll have to find out for yourself," he sighed. "C'mon." He led him back out after their talk.
It didn't occur to him until he noticed that they've been driving for more than an hour that they were heading to some really far away place. There were very few cars driving by and most of the time, they were going to the opposite direction of where they were heading.
"So..." Jess tried to think. "Where are we actually going?"
"Not telling."
"C'mon, we've been on the road for an hour!"
Leslie grinned. "Actually, it's only been 45 minutes."
"It's the same," he rolled his eyes and groaned. "Is it still far?" His question was directed at the driver of the car they were in.
