Chapter 19 Unbroken Bond

Sakine and I have finally bonded for the first time in about 7 years. She finally accepts me as her mother. Despite everything that happened between us we can finally see eye to eye. I no longer felt depressed and I'm spending some time with her.

"Okaasan do you think that pàpa is going to like my work? Sakine asked.

"I'm sure he will."

Sakine is showing me the little crane she made. I taught her how to do origami. I'm taking off as many days as I could. Even though the store I worked at turned into a franchise, the others knew me well and kept in touch with me. My friend Lucania was a Japanese pop star. Lucania is pregnant with her child. Sakine is already 11 and she doesn't have any siblings.

Mike and I concluded that we are going to try to have another child. Mike says that if it's a boy he'll name him after me. He wants to name him Meito which is the male equivalent of my name. Our marriage is finally stable; she has this friend named Möiük who moved from Japan. Savas and Gumio are probably jealous. But Sakine was talking about him. She's starting to notice boys.

I'm happy to see that she's growing up. The day I noticed that Sakine was getting into boys was during the super bowl when a K-pop star was preforming at half-time.

Sakine caught me off guard she's almost 12. She's about to hit puberty and I could tell by her voice cracking. Mike can't tell our voices apart. However, he knows the voice with the German accent belongs to me and the scratchy alto American accented voice belongs to Sakine. There are times that our pitch is sometimes identical and Mike can't tell us apart.

Mike finally came home and Sakine welcomed him back. I told Sakine that there's food in the fridge. Mike and I walk toward our room. I locked the door and I made sure that Sakine wouldn't bother us.

"Mike it's been a while since we last did this."

"I know, are you sure that you are ready?" Mike asked.

"Yes"

Mike and I got on the bed. He pulled me into a hug. I started to moan as he got more intimate. As we continued I felt a sharp pain.

"Meiko are you alright?" Mike asked.

"Just be a little gentler."

Mike stopped and he rubbed my hair. He knows I've been having a rough year after my depression faded away. I lean on him letting him know that I wanted to go at it again.

I get on top of him and get a little close. He pulls me into a hug and as we finished I fell asleep. He rubbed my head and kissed me on the forehead. I laid in bed for a while until I decided to go change into my nightwear.

I wake up the following morning, my hair was messed up but I fixed it. As I walked toward our kitchen, Sakine was eating cereal. Mike walked up and kissed me on my lips. I grab some bacon and cooked hash browns. Sakine went to hang out with some of her friends, she said sayonara to both of us. Ozeki was sleeping next to Sakine's chair.

I tell Mike that I'm going to meet up with Lucania and have lunch with her. Mike knew her and was happy that we were good friends. I understand Lucania and she's getting help from me because she's pregnant with her first child so we are going to spend a week together.

Lucania texted me telling me to meet up with her at the park. I walk toward the park. Her husband was an airline pilot. He was barely home so she often trusted me a little bit more. Her husband promised to be with her during her 2nd trimester to the very end. So once we met, she asked if we could talk at her apartment.

"Meiko I'm really scared about my child. The first one I tried to have was a miscarriage." Lucania says.

I rub her back telling her that she was going to be okay. I could tell she was crying for at least a week. I'm guessing the news that her first child was a miscarriage devastated her.
