Fire and Ice [NEEDS EDITING]

Chapter 24

Queen Scarlet's PoV

I growl, staring down at the scene below. Frost prowls towards the helpless SeaWing, and in a flash she's gouged his eyes. Octopus howls in pain, scratching at his face while ice spreads outwards, slowly enveloping his head. I shake my head, dumbfounded. At this rate she might be the first dragon to ever escape the arena...but I'll do everything in my power to keep that from happening. Which, with Frost, isn't very much [power]. But I can't let that stop me. She will not escape.

I turn back to watch the battle, just in time to see Frost mercilessly rip open Octopus's throat. Blood gushes onto the sand, but it slows to a trickle as the frost starts to form and cover the gashes.

The arena is eerily silent. Dragons--SkyWings, MudWings and SandWings alike--are staring down at the IceWing. She slowly turns around, looking for me, I assume, and dragons shrink and flinch away under her glare.

Frost faces me, anger burning in her eyes and seemingly unaffected by the murder she just committed. "There," she spits at me, her disgust thinly concealed. "Thrilling enough for you?" All heads turn to stare at me. I simply shrug my shoulders nonchalantly, earning a deadly hiss from the IceWing as I start to head back to my throne room. "Don't you turn your back on me, Scarlet," she snarls furiously. 'Scarlet? Not Queen Scarlet?' I inwardly grumble. Address me with my title and I might consider giving you an answer, IceWing.

I hear a sharp intake of breath below. Oops. Did I say that out loud? A couple of guards start to rush towards me, concerned. But what about? I wave them down, but they are frantically gesturing at me. I shrug it off and continue to walk towards my throne room while announcing, "You are dismissed." I'm almost in the doors when I realize I haven't heard the normal shuffling of dragons when I dismiss them. There has been some fidgeting, but it seems anxious and other than that, there hasn't been a sound. I slowly turn around when....
