I am here at the patio waiting for my guests. Nagpasya kasi akong magimbita ng iilang mga bisita para sa maliit na salu-salong inihanda ko. Just a little thanksgiving party for the new life I've found.

"Nak,ilalapag ko na dito yung favorite mong carbonara." I immediately went to the diner table to see if everything's in place.

"Salamat ma,for helping me." I smiled at mom. We both heard a car's horn outside. "I think that's dad, mom." Nauna na si mommy na salubungin si daddy sa labas.

"Illea!" That's mom, I put the fruits on the table and nagmadaling pumunta na rin sa sala to greet dad.

"Dad!" Tawag ko. But to my surprised, it wasn't Dad. It was Luke.

"Kailan mo pa ako naging daddy,Illea?" He greeted and kissed my mom on her cheeks. "Hi tita!"

I'm still on my trance but I managed to shake my head and uttered, "I thought it's Dad. Sorry."

"Anak,I invited Luke here and Sheila too. But Sheila can't make it."  My mom provided the answer to my mental questions.

"Sure mom. I mean, Luke and Ate Sheila should be here too. I owed them my new life." I said while throwing sneaky glances at Luke who's casually attractive with just his longsleeve fitted shirt and pants.

"You owed me nothing, Illea." He held my gaze for a couple of minute or so until I heard Seren's laughters. I divert my gaze from Luke's to the door where I found my three girlfriends laughing at my dad, probably his old jokes that never go out of style.

"Leley!" My girls ran to me then hugged me.

"Easy girls. Kakakita pa lang natin nung isang araw ah. Tsaka mahiya nga kayo may iba tayong kasama dito." I sneak a glance at Luke who's talking to my father. Looks like magkakilala sila.

"Enough girls. Ako naman ang yayakap sa baby girl ko." Dad opened his arms then I ran to hug him. Nagtawanan ang lahat. Kumabaga kasi para akong bata sa ginawa ko. I will always be a daddy's girl.

"Ohhh. May fafa pala dito." Seren said. Binatukan siya ni Ronie.

"Seren mahiya ka nga sa lumalabas sa bunganga mo. Ang tanda mo na,ganyan ka pa rin magsalita." Sita ni Ronie. I saw Seren pouted and looked at Luke. Luke laughed. Oh god,he laughed. Doesn't that sound sexy?

Oh jeez,what am I thinking? Erase that rabid thought.

"Tara na at pinaghihintay natin ang pagkain. Let's eat,shall we?" My father broke my rabid thoughts and we all went to the dining area.

Fortunately, nothing morbid happens. Naging matiwasay naman ang dinner namin. By matiwasay, I mean is maya't maya pa rin ang bangayan ni Ronie at Seren. Tahimik si Isabel and sometimes, she catch up with mom's antics. Dad was saying something kay Luke which is I think, business stuffs. I didn't know that Luke is into business. He's a doctor, a hands-on doctor. You can't blame me for giving judgements,okay.

After the dinner, niyaya ko sila sa sala. Well, my hands are sweating profusely. I am nervous. Oh god, I am. I told myself kanina na wag na akong maghahanda ng speech. Ang lakas ng loob kong mag-impromptu. Pero now that Luke's here. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of everybody. Not that I want to impress him, I just don't want to look stupid in front of him. Those two were different so don't.

"Let's listen to what my daughter has to say." Now mom silenced the crowd. I feel tensed. Di ko alam kung saan magsisimula.

I suddenly recalled our breathing exercise, the one Ate Sheila taught me. I inhaled and exhaled a couple of times then I drank a glass of red wine just for a confidence boost.

"First of all, thanks for coming here tonight. Some of you might wondering why I invited you to come over and share a dinner with me." I looked at them,eye to eye,one and then the another. "Honestly, this dinner is a thanksgiving dinner. I want to say thank you to all of you for not giving up on me when I constantly pushing you away. Thank you for being patient, I was really hard headed and so stubborn." I felt my eyes stung, nananadya na ang pagpatak ng mga luha. And I think mom's crying too. I don't want to look at mom cause if I do, I'll end up wailing and crying too.

"Sorry for all the bad decisions. Urgh. This is getting really dramatic. So yeah, thank you, sorry and I love you. Mom,Dad, Rons,Seren,Isabel and Luke." I wiped my tears and smiled at everyone.

"For my daughter's new beginnings." Dad raised his cup for a cheers and they all said, "For new beginnings"

"For new beginnings" I whispered.

We all went to the garden after the small speech I made sa sala. We are actually hoping to see shooting stars. Sabi kasi sa balita, may meteor shower ngayon.

"Ma,kunin ko lang yung cake sa kusina. I'll be right back." Nagpaalam muna akong pupunta sa kusina.

Inaabot ko yung platito sa taas when someone get the plates from the cabinet.

"Here." Luke handed me the plates.

"Hm, thanks." I get the plates from him and continued putting them on the tray.

"I'm looking forward for a new beginning with you." Luke whispered something and I can't quite hear the words he uttered. Umalis siya bigla sa kusina. Sumunod naman ako sa kanya and still puzzled. Hindi ko kasi masyadong narinig.

Maya maya pa,dumating na ang mga meteors. Lahat kami nakatingin sa langit. Seren made a wish. Very fairytale-ish. Well, I did too but just a good luck charm lang.

I closed my eyes and then when I opened them again, I saw Luke staring at me.
