"Pass the potatoes?"Jai asked. I was about to grab it, when Eric, who was sitting beside me, snatched it and handed it to him.

"Here, bro."Eric said, through clenched teeth. Jai looked back strangely , but took them out of Eric's hands.

"Thanks..."He said slowly .

***

Dexter, Zack, and Kim had all been watching a movie downstairs, while Eric, Jai, and I had been hanging out in my room. I told

Eric he couldn't hang out with us, but he insisted.

After sitting in an uncomfortable silence for what felt like two y ears, I got up.

"I have to use the washroom," I announced, already on my way out.

"Try not to have too much fun,"Eric said, winking. I flicked the finger, and left the room.

After using the washroom, I washed my hands, and breathed in. "Get ready for awkwardness," I told my self, sighing. I opened the

washroom door, and ran into someone. I thought it was Eric, but it was Jai.

"Oh, hey , sorry I didn't know you wanted to use the washroom too, I would have-"He laughed.

"I don't have to use the washroom, I was just tired of Eric staring me down," I laughed. "And, I was wondering if I could get your

number?"

I looked down and bit my lip.

"Y eah, sure." I smiled and wrote down my number on his hand.

"Great, thanks,"He said, smiling shy ly . I found it adorable, how shy and cute he was.

He slowly leaned in, and so did I.

"Jai,"We heard from downstairs. We both stopped leaning in, and I sighed.

"Hug?"He asked.

I smiled, and nodded. He leaned in and hugged me tightly . He was tall enough for his chin to rest on the top of my head. Someone

cleared their throat loudly , beside us. Jai and me both pulled away quickly . It was Eric

"Dude, didn't you hear your mom? Y ou're leaving."

"I know, uh, thanks."He said quietly .

"I'll walk you out?" I said.

He nodded, slightly smiling.

"I'll come too,"Eric announced. I rolled my ey es, but didn't say any thing. All three of us made our way outside after the parents.

***

I walked in, and Eric followed me.

"Y ou know he can't date, right?"Eric asked.

"What the hell is your problem?" I said, sternly , glaring at him.

"What do you mean?"

"Y ou know exactly what I mean," I said, jabbing my finger into his chest, causing him to back up. "Y ou made it pretty clear you're

not fond of Jai this afternoon, when your mom mentioned he was coming here!"

"So?"He asked. I chuckled.

"Was someone jealous?" I asked.

"No,"He said a little bit too quickly . "I was just surprised someone would want you. I was protecting him, from dating a freak."He

said smirking.

"Y ou're a real asshole, you know." I said, through clenched teeth. His parents walked in, and saw us at the top of the stairs.

"Hey , kids. We're heading to bed. Have a good night, don't stay up too late, you have school tomorrow."

We both nodded.

"Thanks," I called.

"No problem,"Angie said, walking out of the room.

I glared at Eric one last time, and made my way to my room. I walked into my room, and shut the door, probably a little too

loud. I went straight to bed, without even changing. I checked my phone to one unread text, from Jai. 'Good night, beautiful.'

***

I woke up, with my phone on my chest. I guess I passed out, talking to my old, private school friends. I rubbed my ey es, and sat

up, checking to see what time it was. six thirty . That wasn't too bad.

I faintly heard laughing coming from downstairs. I opened my door, and walked to the stairs, slowly and quietly going down a

few steps. I saw Eric, sitting on the ground, Kim in his lap.

"Do you wike the pwicture I dwew?"Kim asked him.

"Of course I do, Kimmy ! It's almost as beautiful, as you."He said kissing the top of her head.

I smiled. It has a heart.

I accidently moved a bit, causing the stairs to creek. Shit.

Eric turned to face me, but Kim started on a different drawing, not noticing me. I mouthed "sorry ", and he smiled. Finally , a nice

general smile, instead of that stupid smirk. I walked back upstairs into my room, and turned on the shower. School was going to

suck today .
