Chapter 10: Her Secret

"What is it mate? You look angered? You okay?" Calum asked.

I feel like this will hurt him the most. Then Michael then me. I'm actually starting to think I have a few feelings for her. My phone buzzed in my hand saying I had a text. It's from Katie.

'Katie poooooo : hey thank you Luke for listening to me blab on about my dad. Even though we dont know eachother well. Thank you. :)'

I smiled at her text. She is so sweet. I can't see why Chris would abuse her.

To Katie pooooo: no problem. We are friends now and it feels like we've known you for ages. Get some sleep babe. If you need anything just text me. =')

"Who you texting?" Ashton asked, peeking at my phone.

"Oh. Just Katie. She's right next door too"

"What!? No way? Woah we need to

Hang out with her!!" They all were shouting that and how it's not fair how she hasn't texted them. She probably is afraid she'll annoy us.

"She told me to tell you guys something too....."

Here it goes. I don't want to tell my mates. My best lads that she's had a hard life. It was hard enough keeping my anger in outside, having it come out of my mouth won't help any really.

We all sat on the couch and I can't help but fiddle with my hands.

"Okay what's up mate?" Ash asked.

"What I say does not ever leave your mouth to anyone but us okay?"

They all smiled and nodded their head.

"And no interrupting me. Okay so I went out side for some air and to play some tunes. And a girl was singing and then she called a voicemail and left a message."

They all nodded.

"And then I realized it was Katie. And she was crying so I wen-"

"Oh my gosh is she okay?" Michael asked. Interrupting me.

"Mikey. No interrupting. I went to comfort her and she told me some stuff and said I could tell you. And since we're living next to each other, we will all be seeing each other quite often so I think you need to know some thing about her. Ill make this short and simple."

Calum spoke, "ok just get to it!"

If only they knew how hard this is to say even tho we just met her.

I took a deep breath.

"Her father got killed 2 years ago and her mom doesn't really support her and her brother mostly does,"

Their jaws dropped

"And, she was crying cause today is the day he died 2 years ago. Also there is some guy back at her home named Chris that abuses her." I said softly.

"Lastly. She self harms." I whispered barely loud enough for them to hear

"What!!?"

The boys screamed, very shocked. Their faces all dropped.

"She didn't want you to know cause she doesn't want to be treated like a child."

"She, she's abused?" Calum asked.

"Physically, mentally and emotionally."

Calum stood up and ran out the front door slamming it behind him.

Well he took that well.

Calums pov

"Lastly she self harms" Luke whispered that so quietly it was hard to hear but I heard it. That explains the scraps and scars on her arms. And she's abused too? She's got a harsh life. That really is so sad.

"She, she's abused?" I softly asked,not raising my head.

"Physically, mentally and emotionally." Luke replied.

"You've got to be shitting me" I mumbled.

That's alot. Before I know it I am running out the door to who knows where.

I swear if I ever meet this 'Chris' I swear shits about to go down. Is he another brother of her? Or her new dad? Who ever he is I swear I will beat the living daylight out of him. She's beautiful and the sweetest thing and she gets abused! And probably because of that she self harms. I just want to find her and give her a hug and comfort her. If I want a chance I need to be there for her.

Ashton's pov

Luke and I were sitting in the lounge and it was around 2 am and Calum still hasn't come back. I'm still trying to take it all in. Katie is the nicest girl ever I swear. My phone buzzed twice saying I had a message.

'cooper el Katie: I noticed your lights are on. I had a bad dream and can't sleep may I come over?'

'To cooper el Katie: of course you can babe. The doors open.'

With in a few minutes she came over still in her Jammie's but her hair was neatly done in a bun.

"I'm sorry if i woke you guys." She whispered walking over to me as I patted the couch.

Her eyes were quite red and her cheeks were shiney showing she has been crying.

"No no it's fine we've been up for a bit. Michael is sleeping though." Luke told her. Still having sympathy in his eyes. In trying to hide my sympathy. She doesn't want to be treated like a kid cause of this and I won't.

"And calum?"

"He went out for a walk."

There was a quite awkward silence.

"How you doing katie?" I asked, receiving a glare from Hemmings.

She looked down and wouldn't look up.

"I'm fine. You?"

"I'm ok. Here," I held my arms open and she came and leaned on me.

"Do you want to talk about your dream?" Talking about mine to someone always helped me never to have it again.

She stiffened when I said that.

"No. It-it's ok I have it qu-quite often it was just different a little tonight."

She laid her head on my lap and I soon heard her soft snores with a few hiccups.

Calums pov

It's now, 3:27am and I'm still roaming. I need to get back now I guess. I need to talk to Katie as well.

I can't find my key. Thanks boys for locking me out. Ah. I slid it in the lock and walked in to see Katie sleeping on Ashton's lap and luke asleep on the couch.

"Ash. Ash!" I whispered yelled to wake him up.

"Hmm. Hey Calum your back so soon" he chuckled.

I pointed to his lap.

"Explain in the morning. I'm going back to sleep" was his response. I took a seat on the floor and closed my eyes to a deep slumber so I'm here when Katie wakes up.
