He was a king of dark hours.
And she, a maiden of flowers.
He fell in love at first sight,
and she put up a fight.
But he kept her hidden underground,
where she wouldn't make a sound.
Her mother paced the ground,
until her daughter was to be found.
Time arrived that, Demeter came to her daughter's aid,
and found the throne where she lay.
Hades let her go without a care,
but gave Persephone a fruit from his lair.
She took one bite, and was forever his;
for all he wanted was her sweet kiss.
Six months of Winter and Spring,
and it no longer seems that he didn't let her go,
but perhaps that,
she didn't ever want to go.
