Chapter Seventeen

 (Author's P.O.V.)

"Umm, do I know you?" Carter asked blankly, giving up on trying to get past Niall and giving him his full attention.

"No, but I know you." Niall answered shortly.

"You do know how incredibly creepy that sounds, right?"

"I don't give a damn what you think." Niall snarled.

"Woah, chill dude." Chase stepped forward, next to his brother, trying to defuse the tense atmosphere.

"We don't know who you are, or what's up. Just let's calm down, yeah?" Not that anyone but Niall was angry.

"Yeah. So, who the hell are you and what's got your little panties in a twist?" Carter drawled coolly, getting annoyed by him.

"Carter..." Chase warned.

"What?" Carter snapped at his brother. "I'm not the idiot who's ambushed me in a corridor, refusing to let me pass and I don't even know who the dude is!"

"Idiot?" Niall hissed getting up in his face, causing Carter to bring his attention back to him, his anger starting to bubble dangerously. "Your the one who thinks it's perfectly okay to try and steal my girlfriend!"

Carter's face took on a dumbstruck look, all his anger running off into confusion.

Then he began to kind of understand, his face projecting realisation.

"Oh, you mean El?" He laughed offhandedly. "Don't worry, I'm not trying."

Niall's face went red in rage, and he spat, "You don't have the right to call her that! And what the hell does 'I'm not trying' mean?!"

Carter brows knitted together. "I didn't mean, anything. Just that me and El-"

"Don't call her that!" Niall roared. "And you are nothing! There is no you and Ellie and there never will be!"

That did it for Carter, he this guy was, right up in his face shouting his mouth off., about nothing. How dare he?

Carter pushed him away roughly. "I honestly don't know what your problem is, but seriously, you've got issues, man. Tell your friends to take you back to the institute, yeah?"

Then Niall lost it, crunching his fist into a tight ball it shot out and hit him directly into his nose, knowing it hit it's mark when he was rewarded with a satisfying crunch.

As he felt a sharp pain in his nose, Carter brought his hand up to feel blood, then see it on his hand. His own hand curled into a fist, and he saw Niall bracing himself, then a great idea hit him.

Carter smirked and dropped his hand.

"Thanks, dude." He said to Niall, smiling.

"'Thanks'?" He echoed, shocked. "Your saying thanks? And I'm the psycho one?" Carter just smiled knowingly, and without saying another word sauntered off leaving the rest of the boys - with the exception of Chase who knew his brother enough to know he was planning something.

"You've got on Carter's bad side." Chase stated, sarcastically adding. "Well done."

All the One Direction boys looked uncomfortable, sensing it's no good thing, but Niall offhandedly commented,

"The guy thanked me for punching him. I seriously don't think he's a threat."

"You think that was serious?" Chase laughed un-humorously. "And you think he's not going to use that as an advantage?

"No, he might not have been chasing after Ellie, but now? Knowing Carter he would just to annoy the hell out of you. So, yes, Niall. Well done." Then he strode away after his twin.

"You absolute idiot Niall." Liam spoke up after a couple minutes of silence.

"C'mon, Chase is just trying to scare me, obviously. Chill guys."

"No, Niall. I don't think he is. I think he's truly trying to warn you." Harry added.

"Whatever. I'm going to the apartment. See you." Then Niall walked off in the direction of the apartment.

Leaving the boys feeling apprehensive and on the edge, and not knowing what's going to happen next.

Ooh, drama!

Lol I know it's short but it's early in the UK and I'm going to see One Direction -This Is Us with my best friend AbbyTomlinson24 (WattPad name - check out her incredible imagines!) today! Argh, finally!
