Emma Stone as Zoey Adams on the side ;)

~***~

I stumbled in my apartment while juggling with my keys. As I entered the apartment, the silence greeted me. The loneliness, that never bothered me that much before, was like my old friend. The quiet and dark environment really freaked me out for a second. But I was feeling a little tipsy and dizzy because of the many tequila shots I had had. I went to my room after putting my bag on the table I collapsed on the bed. Without even bothering to change, I fell asleep on the covers.

~***~

I woke up with a headache killing me. I wiped the drool off my face looked at the time; breakfast time was almost over. I got up and staggered out the room to get to the kitchen counter. I found some pills on the counter. I took the medicine and made myself a small breakfast and sprawled on the couch in the living room.

I was currently living in a two room apartment. I have had this apartment to myself since my roommate, Alice, who wasn't very nice, got married and left two years ago. As we enter the apartment, there is a living room plus kitchen. And on the right is my room while in the left room I keep the junk. I have been living on my own for almost two years now. I have a job as a secretary in a company two blocks away from my apartment. I am well paid. I have no one to depend on except Brandon, who is more like a brother to me as he was always around even of my parents weren't. I don't know why my parents had me as they never care about me, ever; they were a complete another story. They fell in love in their teenage years and I was born when they were both in high school so basically I was not meant to be born but it happened. I was left in the care of my old grandmother who sadly died when I turned ten. I never had any financial problems but other problems? Yeah I have got many. I was emotionally a wreck. Brandon was my neighbor and now my best friend; he is four years older than me. He helped me a lot. His efforts kept me sane for years up till now too. I am glad I met him. If I hadn't I probably would have killed myself long ago. But no here I was single and sadly alive.

I was pulled out of my past from the sound of the doorbell. I smiled as it would be Brandon who else would bother me so early in the morning. I opened the door and let him in.

"Where were you last night? I called for like an hour but you didn't reply." He snapped at me. Usually when I don't reply him he gets mad just like today.

"I am sorry. It was my day off so I checked out the bar that recently opened down the block." I replied meekly. He sighed as he sat down on the couch beside me.

"Nice!" That was all he said. We sat in silence for few minutes when I realized I was missing something.

"Hold on. Something's not right here. Wait! Don't tell me, let me think." I said when I realized his smirk replaced his smile challenging me to remember what I was forgetting.

"Okay, you are here... alone... no girlfriend... that reminds me where the hell is she... no wait that's not it... oh yes I remember." I squealed in delight jumping on the couch.

"How did your date go?" I giggled seeing him blush like a girl when I mentioned that. He had been in love for like three years now with his girlfriend, Laura who by the way was a very nice girl.

"I proposed to her and she said yes." He grinned at me while I flung myself at him and tackled him in a hug.

"That's so great! My brother is finally getting married. Yay!" I squealed like a little girl.

"Ahem, let's not get ahead of ourselves." His sentence lowered the level of my excitement.

"Shut up." I said to him as slapped him on the arm.
