"Stop, you're going to be late meeting your dad." I laughed, pushing Leo away from me.
Leo smiled and kissed me lightly before letting me go so that I could finish brushing my hair back into a ponytail.
Since the night of the 'little' get together with all of Leo's relatives and no longer suppressing my feelings for him things have been basically like Heaven. That is if Heaven is even better than my life is right now. He had been a lot more affectionate which I guess is alright considering I had given him the green light to 'go' three nights ago. While I admitted my feelings for him I was still always cautious, but maybe that was how I had always been with guys.
Today Leo was going to meet with his dad, he had wanted me to come but I had already promised Mae that I would meet her for lunch in town with Marissa since they had left me a note in our bedroom the night prior. I fixed out the ends of my fuchsia colored dress, the sleeves flaring out as I did so before placing the brown strap sandals on my feet. My skin had gotten considerably darker in the short time we had been here even though the weather was cooling down I always felt warm.
"I'll see you later for dinner okay?" Leo said as we began walking downstairs.
"Yes, seven right?"
"Yea, hey my dad is mindlinking me to hurry up. Be careful, I really don't like the thought of you walking into town alone." He frowned as I opened the front doors and began walking down the path.
Leo was taking a car but I wanted to enjoy my time outside today.
I rolled my eyes. Of course he would be over protective, but I had been living on my own walking around my old town for years. Nothing bad would happen to me this time either.
"I'll be okay. It's not like I have 'Claire Crimson' stamped on my forehead, nor do I look like some girl that holds power." I noted, while eyeing the collar of his shirt that was messed up.
"I understand that Claire, but-"
"But nothing, I can take care of myself. Remember you taught me some things." I winked, fixing the collar straight.
His eyebrows furrowed together that seemed like he was in deep thought before sighing. Claire Crimson winning against Leo Reyes.
"Go enjoy your time with your dad, I'll let you know when I meet up with Mae and Marissa." I smiled, kissing his cheek.
He smiled but before he could say anything I was walking away, not wanting to make him anymore late than he already is.
The walk into town wasn't far by any means. It was maybe around fifteen minutes and even if I didn't know my way around town very well Mae had helped me control more of my werewolf sense. Now it was easy for me to distinguish who was near or around me just by their scent alone. Every now and again my mind would wander to any 'special' abilities I might have possessed from my parents but nothing felt strange to me.
I kept walking into town sniffing out Mae or Marissa but couldn't seem to pick up a scent of them anywhere. My fingers twitched and I felt an uneasiness around me for some reason even though I was surrounded by people. Something didn't seem right, the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
"It's so nice to see you again Claire." I felt a voice whisper in my ear, a hand grabbing my elbow in the process.
I gasped, turning to face Devon.
Nothing had changed in his features since the last encounter we had, had. My mind tried to remember where I knew him from but nothing ever seemed to click for me. Devon seemed to give me an uneasy vibe from the way he reacted.
