We left the library to go look for food, the obvious place was the lunch room, although somebody must have turned that room into a safe house by now. Toby and I walked over dead bodies and peeked around corners before we walked around them, we stayed high when we could. Toby taped a broken book shelf handle to a hard cover book to make a club, I was weaponless. Toby and I silently walked down the stairs and approached the lunch room from the east. we peeked inside the small doors to see a Single zombie eating a bit of flesh. Dead bodies were all over the floor, and there were no signs of life. We opened the door intending to put a quick end to the zombies life, but then the worst possible thing happened at the worst possible time.
As a writer, I was a firm believer that coincidences could be used to get your heroes into bad situations, but not out of them. As a survivalist, I hated that Idea to It's core as it brutally came to life that day. The fire alarm went off and the Zombie turned his head toward us, then, over the counter, Three more of his buddies looked up and started crawling over the counter
"Shit" Toby yelled
We ran into the four oncoming zombies, Toby meeting the one that we saw from the outside with his club and then dropping it. I, still weaponless, grabbed one and slammed his head hard into the Table to my left, which had a metal tray on it. I grabbed the tray and hit a Zombie over the head with it, but my school, being as cheep as it is, The metal bent instead of crushing the Zombies brain in. I Hit him again and again until he went down. Toby, on the other hand, Had taken out the other Zombie, and finished of the one i slammed into the Table. I stood up and then dropped the bent and broken tray on the zombies Hurt face, then stomped on the tray and crushed the Zombies skull under my weight. Toby and I Hopped the counter and then went into the storage room.
The room was full of canned goods, and Toby grabbed everything he could, as did I. We were going to have to postpone the Search for Mitchell, we needed to get back to the library. We took our turn to go back the way we came, but the main room was now flooded with Zombies, Me and Toby hit the floor and hid behind the counter, we would have to wait out the storm, or die trying to escape.
