Will this be enough?

Lucas P.O.V.

"I really don't want to." I whined to Ness, who was sitting upside down on a beanbag chair in his room.

"Why not? It'd be good for both of us." He countered, balancing a baseball bat on the palm of his hand.

Ness wanted us to spar, much to my distaste. Ness is really strong, but I'm no pushover. Adding in that both of us are competitive, (Ness being 10x more than I am) I definitely didn't want to see a simple sparring match go crazy.

"Because we'd both get overly competitive, and end up hurting each other. Or, the city would be flattened, putting everyone out of their homes and jobs." I said, turning the page in the book I was reading.

"Well, we need to do something, it's been way too quiet lately." He complained, sighing as dramatically as possible.

"Not happening." I stated coldly.

"Please?" He whined.

".....Are you really going to do this right now?" I asked, frustrated.

"Yes. Definitely. Absolutely." He smirked. That same smirk he got when he planned to do something obnoxious.

"You do know that I won't cave in that easily, right?" I asked, shooting him a challenging glare.

"Guess I'll have to try my hardest to change your mind." He said, setting down the bat and closing his eyes, that smirk still glued on his face.

*the next morning* Lucas P.O.V.

I found myself waking with a start early in the morning. When I turned to check my alarm clock, I noticed two things. Ness wasn't lying down next to me, and it was three in the morning. I could already tell that Ness was going to do something incredibly dumb. I stood from the bed, the cold floor making my toes shiver. I quietly made my way downstairs, looking for any sign of Ness.

"Ness? Where are you?" I asked, scratching the back of my head.

No response came back, physically or mentally, which only made me more suspicious of what ness had planned.

"I don't know what you've got planned, but I already don't like it." I called out, stepping into the kitchen.

To my surprise, ness was sitting at the dining room table, head down in a pile of doughnuts. Must've fallen asleep while getting a midnight snack; typical Ness behavior.

"Hope you didn't inhale an entire doughnut this time." I chuckle quietly, remembering having to yank an entire doughnut out of Ness's nose.

As I made my way to his sleeping body, something skittered across the floor towards me, causing me to jump.

"Woof!" (Good morning Lucas) Boney barked, tail wagging happily.

"G-good morning Boney. Why are you up so early?" I question him.

"Ruff" (I smelled food, and my tummy woke me up) he bounced around me, before running towards Ness.

"It's still too early for breakfast buddy." I smile, walking over to my sleeping boyfriend.

I pick up a doughnut from the plate, and toss it in the air. Almost immediately, it was snatched out of the air by Boney, and he scampered off.

"Dodge." A woman's voice called out to me.

"Wh-" before I could even utter a single word, a fist connected with my face, and I was sent flying.

I crashed into the dining room sofa, and went straight through the wall. I could hear maniacal laughter boom throughout the entire house as I landed outside, rain pouring down.

"Don't tell me the great Lucas was done in with a single punch~" a voice cooed.

"It's gonna take more than a half-hearted sucker punch to take me out." I grumbled through grit teeth, slamming my fist into the ground and standing up to face my assailant.

When I looked up, there was a person dressed in all black stood before me, a mask covering their face. Judging by the bulging muscles, and over-dramatic pose, I was either being attacked by a man, or a female bodybuilder. Either way, I was taking them down.
