Part 5: Baekhyun Special

"How's heaven Appa?" Baekhyun whispered to the sky. "Are you running around in a giant forest? I feel like you would have liked it out here...it's nothing like the city but so amazing!"
"You're still up?" Baekhyun turned to see Chanyeol walking over.
"Yeah, just thinking about some stuff." Baekhyun admitted.
"Well what kind of stuff?" He asked, he then sat close enough to Baekhyun that their legs were touching. "Upcoming mating stuff maybe?"
"Not that stuff you perv!" Baekhyun weakly pushed Chanyeol away but Chanyeol caught Baekhyun's arm and pulled him onto his lap.
"What else could you be thinking of?" He asked as Baekhyun nuzzled his neck.
"My old life." Baekhyun said softly. "And my father."
"Wanna talk about it?" Chanyeol asked, Baekhyun nodded and took a deep breath.
"Well let's start from the beginning..."

"Wake up Baekhyun." Baekhyun opened his eyes to see his parents standing above him with smiles. He sat up in the bed rubbing his eyes.
"What is it?" He groaned. "I feel like shit."
"Baekhyun!" His mother scolded. "Watch your language young man!"
"Really?" Baekhyun complained. "I'm 16 now, I'm not a baby!"
"Son listen to your mother." His father warned.
"Yes appa!" Baekhyun smiled at his father warmly.
"Now apologize." Baekhyun nodded.
"Sorry mother." He then sarcastically said.
"You better be." She huffed.
"Anyway your cousin is here." His dad smiled.
"God knows why the wild thing showed up."
"V's here!" Baekhyun jumped from the bed, stumbled a bit then bolted from the room. He ran down the spiraled staircase to the living room where V was sitting with another man.
"Baekie!" V ran to Baekhyun and the two collided in a tight hug. "I've missed you!"
"I've missed you too!" Baekhyun said as he nuzzled his cousin's neck.
"Baekhyun there's someone I want you to meet." V said pulling away. He pulled Baekhyun to the stranger. "This is my mate."
"Hello I'm Hoseok." The man offered his hand which Baekhyun took.
"Baekhyun." He smiled. "It's nice to meet you.
"V's told me a lot about you." Hoseok smiled.
"I wish I could say the same but I don't see dear V often." Baekhyun laughed. "Speaking of which why are you here? Where's auntie?"
"That's the thing..." V chuckled.
"What is it V?" Baekhyun crossed his arms.
"Hoseok is a beta like me so that's one reason mom didn't approve bu-"
"Oh I'm sure she'll get over it soon!" Baekhyun ruffled V's hair. "It's not like he's a pack wolf, you know auntie would never approve...oh V no."
"Oh Baekhyun yes." V blushed. "Hoseok is from a pack."
"So you're running from aunties wrath?" Baekhyun rubbed his temples.
"I'm going to join his pack!" V announced.
"But that's not the only reason we're here." Hoseok wrapped an arm around V's waist.
"Oh?" Baekhyun asked, he put his hands on his hips.
"Well..." V started. "I know you hate the city...and you've been wanting to travel for a long time..."
"You want me to come with you?" Baekhyun guessed.
"Yes!" V ran over and grabbed Baekhyun's shoulders. "Just think of how fun it would be!"
"But what about appa?" Baekhyun whispered. "He'd be heartbroken."
"You could finally be free." V whispered back.
"I'm not like you." Baekhyun took a deep breath. "I still have ties here. Just give me time."
"But-"
"I understand." Hoseok interjected. "I'll tell you where you can find our pack so if you change your mind you can join us."
"Thank you." Baekhyun bowed. "V eventually I will join you but...I can't leave appa with my witch of a mother."
"I guess that's true..." V said slowly. "Well we have to go soon, it's kinda far."
"Please stay safe." Baekhyun hugged V tightly. "And Hoseok, you better keep him safe!"
"I'll protect him with my life." Hoseok promised.

"How was your day honey?" Baekhyun's mother asked as she spooned peas onto Baekhyun's plate.
"It was fine, Jerry and his mate seem to be-" Baekhyun's father replied.
"Appa what are packs like?" Baekhyun interrupted.
"What?" His mother stared at him wide eyed. "Why in the world do you want to know?"
"I'm curious to how V will live now." Baekhyun lied, he looked at his plate as he stirred his food around.
"We don't tal-"
"It's fine Martha." His father put his hand over hers. "Well son...that's a hard question to answer because most packs are different. I can tell you about the SM Pack."
"I'm going to bed." Martha announced then walked out of the room.
"SM?" Baekhyun tilted his head.
"Yup. The SM pack is a growing pack, when I was your age it was a tiny pack but under it's new ruler the pack seems to be growing a lot. It's a monarchy ruled pack and they have one prince right now, I think he's around 8 or 9." Baekhyun's father rubbed his chin.
"How do they treat new members?"
"Well again that varies from pack to pack, some packs don't allow new wolves to enter and some enter with open arms. The SM Pack let anyone the king approved of to join the pack and they were normally welcomed into the pack fairly well. If V ran off with another wolf who offered him a spot in the pack then I'm assuming it's a pack that is pretty welcoming."
"So V will be okay?" Baekhyun asked.
"I'm sure V will be fine." His father smiled. "Anything else you want to know?"
"How do they treat mates?"
"That's an odd question, but in most packs mates are sacred. You find one and stay with that mate until one of you die. It differs from us greatly, starting from the courting process." His father sighed. "There is no courting really for them."
"But how do they know if they like each other?"
"Well son pack or rouge wolves are more in tuned with their wolf as they are closer to nature so it's been described as a deep pull towards the other or love at first sight." His father yawned. "When the mating begins the wolves bite each other, also different from us, this injects a venom that marks the other as theirs. We get this venom taken out of us around the age of 20 when you're allowed to start finding a mate."
"Really? Why?"
"It's because some people end up leaving or cheating on their mate, the lack of venom rids us of the pain. Now there is one pack wolf I know of that has more than one mate right now. It's the fourth royal child of the Kim pack and she has 5 mates right now?"
"How is that possible!" Baekhyun asked wide eyed.
"I'm not really sure, I heard she's mated many more times but she's killed the others." His father shook his head. "Now go on to bed. It's been a long day."

"Baekhyun?" Martha opened his door with a tear stained face.
"What is it?" Baekhyun looked up from his book confused. When he saw his mother's face he jumped up. "What happened!"
"I-it's your father." She sobbed. Baekhyun ran to her.
"What about appa?" He asked.
"He was in a car accident." She sniffed. "We need to get to the hospital. I need you to drive us."
"Let's go." He said grabbing his car keys.

"There's a small chance he'll make it." Baekhyun could barely hear the doctor talk, all he could do was look at his father on the hospital bed.
"Isn't there anything we can do?" Martha asked.
"Well right now we have him on..." The doctor's voice faded out as Baekhyun went to sit by his father.
"How are you feeling Appa?" He asked the man.
"I've been better." He said honestly. "That driver came out of nowhere."
"That driver was drunk and will serve his time." Baekhyun growled.
"Don't seek cold revenge." His father reminded him. "You especially, as an omega, can't. It'll just ruin you."
"But appa he hurt yo-"
"And that will be with him his whole life." His father said. "That's punishment enough."
"Bu-"
"Baekhyun." His father warned.
"Sorry appa." Baekhyun sighed.
"Don't frown Baekhyun. Your appa is strong I'll pull through." Baekhyun gave his father a soft smile. "Besides I need to approve of your mate before I kick the can."
"Of course!" Baekhyun laughed. "I can't mate someone my appa doesn't like."
"Damn right!" His father laughed before he burst into a coughing fit.
"Don't stress yourself." Baekhyun panicked.
"Don't worry." His father laughed. "I'm not leaving anytime soon."

"Today's the day." Baekhyun told himself as he looked around his room for the last time. Two years ago his father got in a car accident and one year ago his father died. Baekhyun walked out of his room with only a small bag half full with a few pieces of clothes, a picture of his family and some food he bought earlier.
"Where are you going?" Martha asked from her spot on the couch. Baekhyun took a deep breath before facing her.
"I'm leaving." He said. "I'm going to join V in his pack."
"But you know noth-"
"I know enough to get by. Appa told me a lot and I've done my research. The pack V is in is the BTS Pack ran by mateless alpha Namjoon, the healer and eldest is omega Jin and the main beta is Suga."
"Why are you leaving?" Martha cried.
"Mother..." For a few seconds Baekhyun felt bad for what he was about to do. "I'll visit someday...when I find a mate you and appa would approve of I'll visit you, but I have to go. I feel trapped here and I hate the city."
"How long have you been planning this?" She asked tears still running down her face.
"For two years now." He answered truthfully. "I'm 18 I can do this!"
"Just...come pack...please." Martha ran over and hugged her only son tightly.
"I will..."

"Fucking fantastic I'm fucking lost." Baekhyun muttered to himself. "Great job Baekhyun, you can't even fucking follow a fucking map right."
"Mama that man is cussing a lot!" Baekhyun looked up to see a tiny boy pointing at him, besind him stood other man. "He must be a stupid man."
"Tao!" The feminine looking male scolded. "That's rude!"
"But baba said that when someone cusses that means they're stupid." Tao pouted. Baekhyun looked at the two wide eyed.
"Your baba shouldn't speak like that when he cusses as often as he does." The other said flatly.
"Excuse me." Baekhyun said. "My name is Baekhyun and I'm a little lost."
"Oh?" The male said. "I'm Xiumin and this is Tao. Where are you needing to go?"
"I'm looking for the BTS Pack." Baekhyun said. "If you could just point me in the right direction..."
"We're going there!" Tao smiled. "We could take him right Mama?"
"Of course we can." Xiumin smiled. "My mate is there right now. He went ahead and we're catching up with him so we'd be happy to take you!"
Baekhyun nodded and they set off. The trip was filled with questions from Tao and Baekhyun answered all of them that he could.
"So why are you headed to their pack?" Tao asked, he was walking in between the two omegas holding both of their hands. "We go because baba and their alpha are friends!"
"My cousin mated into the pack two years ago and I told him I would join him." Baekhyun said.
"That's cool! I don't have any cousins." Tao said sadly.
"You don't want any, they're annoying." Baekhyun smiled and ruffled Tao's hair.
"Your cousin must be V then?" Xiumin asked to which Baelhyun nodded. "He's a nice boy, a great match for Hoseok."
"Really? I'm glad." Baekhyun smiled. "He never did like the city."
"I take it you're also from the city?" Xiumin asked.
"What's the city like?" Tao asked. "My old mama and baba never liked to talk about it."
"Old mama and baba?" Baekhyun looked at Tao. "But I thought..."
"Oh Tao isn't mine biologically." Xiumin smiled. "My mate and I are only 21, Tao is 11. We found Tao not too long ago."
"I'm sorry!" Baekhyun stopped walking and started babbling off apologies.
"It's okay Baekie!" Tao pulled Baekhyun's hand and continued their walk. "A pack took out my home pack so I'm the last of my royal line!"
"You're royalty?" Baekhyun gasped.
"Don't give him a bigger ego." Xiumin chuckled. "He's the last of the SM Pack."
"We're here!" Tao announced before running off into a group of six cabins yelling for his baba.
"Well Baekhyun it was wonderful getting to know you for that short time." Xiumin laughed. "If you want to see more of the world you're welcome to join out little group."
"I haven't even met your mate yet." Baekhyun blushed.
"Oh you'll love Chen, everyone does." Xiumin smiled. "We'll be staying here for another day or so, so don't feel like you need to give me an answer right away. You haven't even met this pack yet."
"Thank you, I'll defiantly think about it." Baekhyun promised. Xiumin nodded and walked into the circle of cabins.
"BAEK!" Baekhyun turned to see his cousin come at him full speed. Baekhyun barely had enough time to open his arms before V was hugging him.
"V calm down!" Baekhyun laughed hugging him tighter. "How's pack life?"
"Oh it's great!" V pulled back beaming. "Hoseok is a gentleman, Jin treats everyone like his children, Jimin is fun to talk to, and Namjoon is a great leader!"
"I'm happy you like it here." Baekhyun said.
"It's great here but why are you here?" V asked.
"Well about a year ago Appa died." Baekhyun said somberly.
"I'm so sorry Baek!" V hugged him again and swayed side to side. "What about Auntie?"
"We talked before I left and once I find a mate they would approve of I have to visit but she let me go."
"That's good! I'd rather not know what my mom said about me when I left." V laughed. "Oh! You need to meet everyone!"
"I've met Xiumin and Tao. I got lost and ran into them." Baekhyun admitted as they walked past the first house. "Xiumin invited me to go with them if I want."
"Why am I not surprised you got lost?" V chuckled. "But they're all nice people, Chen can come off a little cold at first but he's a big softy and a beta too! If you went I'm sure you'd have fun."
"It sounds like you want me to go." Baekhyun shook his head.
"Well of course I don't want you to go." V said. "I'm just saying you'd have fun and be a little more free then you would be here."
Baekhyun was silent when they reached the biggest cabin of the six. They entered to see nine people people sitting on couches, six of them stood up when the two entered and Hoseok walked over.
"It's nice to see you again Baekhyun." Hoseok shook Baekhyun's hand again.
"Likewise Hoseok." He greeted back.
"Hoseok, V shouldn't you two introduce him?" A voice asked.
"Yeah where are your manners?" Someone else said.
"Sorry Nam, Jin." Hoseok sheepishly said.
"Okay guys this is my cousin Baekhyun. Baekhun meet our fearless alpha, Namjoon. Our main beta, Suga and his omega mate Jimin. Our omega healer and eldest Jin and his young beta mate Jungkook." V pointed at them each of them.
"Sure fearless." Jimin snorted.
"Shut up Jimin." Jin said. "It's lovely to meet V's cousin."
"It's lovely to meet all of you." Baekhyun bowed.
"I think you forgot about someone V." Xiumin suddenly said, Baekhyun looked over to the three sitting to see Tao laughing.
"I'm so sorry Xiu." V said.
"It's fine." The last man said standing up. "I'm Xiumin's mate and Tao's baba, Chen. Xiumin told us how you two met and his offer to you. As the leader of our little group I would also like to invite you to join us, Tao is very fond of you."
"Oh thank you but I still need time to think about it." Baekhyun answered.
"Perfectly fine with me." Chen patted his shoulder. "We are staying another day here so you have until then."
"Baekie!" Tao ran over and hugged Baekhyun's legs. "Mama said you might join us, is it true?"
"Maybe I will." Baekhyun said as he crouched to Tao's level.
"That'd be so much fun!" Tao smiled. "We could do so much stuff and have tons of fun!"
"Tao don't bother Baekhyun." Xiumin warned.
"You might scare him off." Chen agreed.
"Then he would stay with us forever!" Jungkook gasped.
"You would most likely scare him off Kookie." Hoseok laughed.
"Yeah!" Tao agreed. The others all laughed and teased Jungkook. Baekhyun looked around the room admiring the atmosphere and the wolves he met. He looked at Chen who had an arm around Xiumin's shoulders, holding him close. Tao was standing by Baekhyun's legs as he teased Jungkook. Xiumin's head was on Chen's shoulder, he made eye contact with Baekhyun and smiled, Baekhyun smiled back and at that moment he knew his choice.

"Well I'm going to miss you Baek." V said. The BTS Pack was standing at the edge of the forest to send off the group of now four.
"We'll visit." Chen promised.
"You better." Namjoon pointed at Chen. "It gets boring without Tao here."
"Oh we will defiantly be back." Xiumin laughed. "It's nice to sleep in a cabin every once in a while."
"And this we learn the true reason they stay here." Suga laughed.
"Yes I steal your bed and food for a few days every few months and tolerate you people." Chen agreed.
After a few more minutes of goodbyes the group was off. They walked for a few hours before stopping at a pond.
"Well Baekhyun, where do you want to go?" Chen asked. "The world is yours to discover!"
"That sounded really cheesy baba." Tao teased.
"Oh shush it you." Chen jokingly growled.
"I want to see the mountains!" Baekhyun decided.
"They're pretty this time of year." Xiumin told Baekhyun. "Good choice."
"Then let's get going!" Chen stood up. "We have a long ways to go, to the Northern mountains!"

"Baekie can I sleep with you tonight?" Baekhyun looked over to see Tao sleepily making his way over. Baekhyun chuckled and made room on his small pile of furs.
"Was it too crowded with Mama and Baba?" He asked, Tao shook his head and cuddled closer.
"Mama and Baba started to mate. They thought I was asleep." Tao yawned. Baekhyun looked at Tao before looking in the general direction of the other two wolves.
"Poor Taozi." Baekhyun cooed as he pinched Tao's cheeks. Tao playfully swatted his hands away and drifted into a sleep.
Baekhyun cuddled closer to his youngest pack mate and kissed the top of his head.
"How's heaven Appa?" Baekhyun whispered to the night sky. "I bet you're watching over me just like you used too! You were so overprotective but I didn't mind, I miss it really, but I feel like Chen will be just like that. In time I might have another overprotective appa or maybe an overprotective brother, who can tell right now, hopefully I continue to get along with Xiumin and Tao."
Baekhyun looked at the sky as a tear fell from his eye.
"So how's heaven appa?" He hiccuped. "Do you miss me like I miss you? I just wish you were here."

"My poor Baekhyun." Chanyeol picked up the almost sleeping boy and carried him towards the omega cave. "I promise to always stay by your side."
"Can you really keep that promise?" Baekhyun asked.
"Of course I can." Chanyeol puffed out his chest. He made his way into the cave avoiding the other sleeping omegas. "I'll always be here when you need me."
"Then will you please stay with me?" Baekhyun asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Chanyeol looked shocked for a moment before putting Baekhyun on his furs and laying with him.
"Of course." Chanyeol gently kissed the top of Baekhyun's head and pulled him close. "I'm not leaving anytime soon."

IT. IS. FINISHED!
I spent so much time writing this and developing Baekhyun as a character here and I'm kinda proud of this. I know not much happens plot wise but we have time, and this is a thank you for 100 subscribers on Asian Fan Fics!
I never thought Flares would do so well and I'm just so grateful! And to those who commented on AFF thank you! This story had no plot until someone commented an idea and I ran with it!
I really hope you liked this little character special, my goal is to make this story love-able. I want Flares to be a story that makes people happy and they request it to their friends. Thank you so much for everything!
