Seth's Point Of View:
We arrived home and I helped Sky out of the car. He wasn't able to walk by himself because he keeps tripping over his shaky legs. I helped him inside the house and he started to fall. I caught him and carried him to the couch. When I put him down, he grabbed my shirt.
"Please don't leave me." I sat next to him, wiping away a tear falling from his eye.
"I won't." I leaned in and kissed him.
"What the hell is this?!" I looked up to see my dad staring at us, eyes wide. All I did was sit there.
"Son! This is not you! You are the man who is supposed to be with a girl, not this—"
"Daryl!" My mom yelled, walking in. "The kids have had enough trouble today as it is!"
"Julie! Our son is making a sin with that boy!" He yelled back. She stared at him, anger on her face.
"Did you know that cheating on your spouse is a sin?" She said to him. His eyes grew wide.
"What do you mean?" He asked, scratching the back of his head, avoiding eye contact.
"Do you think I'm stupid?! Daryl, I've known you have been cheating on me for a long time. The only reason I didn't say anything was for the kids, but now... Just get out of my house!" She yelled. He looked shocked, then he left.
"What the hell just happened?" I asked, my mom just smiled.
"I did something I've been wanting to do for a long time." She came over and hugged me and Sky. "Sky... Do you need anything?"
He stared off in the distance and shook his head. We heard a knock at the door, and my mother went to get it.
"If it's him again..." I heard her whisper. I looked at Sky, but he didn't look at me. I pulled him onto my lap and started to hold him. He started crying again as I held him closer. I looked at the door and saw cops standing there.
'Oh god, this is just the beginning.'
----------------------(Time Skip: Three Months)----------------------
Sky's Point Of View:
The gun pointed to me. One shot rang out, but I didn't feel a thing. I looked to see Seth fall on the ground. I ran up to him, but when I reached him, he disappeared. I turned to look at the man who shot Seth. He gave a smile, then vanished.
Fire started to blaze around me. The sky started to fill with smoke. I fell on my knees, not able to breathe.
Where did Seth go?
I jolted awake, once again. These dreams have been haunting me ever since the shooting happened. I looked over to Seth. He was still sound asleep. I wanted to smile at the cute face he was making, but I couldn't. All I could do was feel pain. I wanted the pain to go away, even if it was just for a little while.
I got out of the bed, and I headed to the kitchen. I stared at the knives, deciding if I should do it or not. Before I made a decision, I had already grabbed a knife, and was holding it to my wrist. I took a deep breath. 'Do I really want to do this?'
"Sky?!" I turned to see who stopped me.
Seth.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seth's Point Of View:I didn't say anything more, I went up to him. He stood, frozen in the same spot, with the knife to his wrist. I grabbed the knife, a little harshly, and put it away. He didn't move, he just stared, depressingly, at the wall. I, gently, grabbed his hand and took him back upstairs. He crawled into the bed, and I followed. We laid facing each other. I put my arm on his waist and brought him closer.
"I wasn't going to do it...." Sky whispered. My hand began rubbing his back.
"I know... I know...." I told him, but truth is... I didn't. It has been about three months since that day. It was now March, and Sky hasn't been to school since it happened. I brought him his schoolwork, but his grades were dropping fast. A couple days after the shooting, the doctors diagnosed him with PTSD and depression. Not a good combination.
The police questioned him for a long time because of what happened to his father. After about three weeks of questioning, they said Sky did it out of defense. After this, he became more depressed and stopped eating. We took him to the doctor, and he was about to be admitted into psych, but my mom stopped it from happening. Now, Sky has just been depressed and afraid. Every time he hears a loud noise, he starts having an anxiety attack.
Sky wasn't the only one affected. Many kids transferred to other schools until they felt the school was safe again. Mr. Hunt was in the hospital for a month because after he had one surgery, he would need another, and the cycle didn't end for a long time. Luckily, he was back to teaching the orchestra again. Morgan's leg was getting better, but he still has a limp. Jewel has re-thought her life, and she is a lot nicer. It's kinda scary. All of our friends are the same, just more scared.
Thinking about all of it frightens me. Our lives just got better, and then Sky's father fucked it up.
I looked back at my clock. 3:27. I went back to sleep, and the next time I looked it was 7:03. I slowly got up and put on my clothes for the day. I looked at Sky. He was still asleep. I didn't know if I should wake him or not. I decided not to and left the room.
"Hey Seth, is Sky staying home again?" My mom asked as I reached the kitchen. I just nodded, and she looked scared.
"Ok, but, just so you know, no one will be home but him." I looked at her, scared. He hasn't been home alone since it happened. I was worried about what he might do, but I trust that he wouldn't. I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door.
After school was done, I have to come straight here to make sure he is okay.
