We walk down the hallways as quickly and quietly as possible. Caleman is leading and I follow closely behind, armed and ready.
"Where exactly are we headed?" I say, breaking the silence for the first time since we started moving.
"Top floor." He states, as we head up a flight of stairs. "Once we get there, we'll get up on the roof."
"And how exactly do we get off the roof?" I question, still wary and untrusting of him.
He grimaced. "We'll figure that out when we get there."
"Oh fun. So we're trying to escape why a half baked plan that could fail miserably. Good to know." I say with obvious sarcasm.
"Well unless you have a better idea- SHIT GAURDS!" He shouts and quickly gets into a stance.
There are about six gaurds in front of us and as soon as they see us they immediately reach for their guns. "Shoot them!" "But we don't know who they are!" "You know what our orders are SHOOT THEM!"
"CHARGE!!!" I howl, and run towards the closest gaurd, gun drawn.
I shoot the first two gaurds I see and get into hand to hand combat with the third one while Caleman takes care of his three. The gaurd I'm fighting is much more skilled than his colleagues, so the fight lasts longer but ends with him on the ground faceup and my legs locked around his neck. I shift my legs and hear the snap of his neck. Just as I do, Caleman takes down his last gaurd.
"Do you have to kill them?" He demands. He only knocked out the gaurds he fought, but I killed mine.
He is right, I probably shouldn't be killing every person I fight. But its my fight instinct. Instead of thinking of ways to knock them out, my brain automatically goes to the quickest way to kill my opponent. The thought scares me. Not only do I know an endless number of ways to kill someone even without a weapon, but I want to kill them. I clearly have alot of training in the act of murder and its so simple to me there must've been I time when it was an everyday thing. Who the hell am I? I bite my bottom lip and draw my eyebrows together in confusion. "Um, I dunno."
For the first time since I woke up I feel afraid and weak. I immediately shake the feeling away and make my stance and expression appear more confident and powerful. I refuse to be weak.Caleman just watches the shifts in my demeanor curiously. He seems interested, but at the same time analyzing. Almost as if he's trying to figure out who I am so he can categorize me into a section or a group. "Well we can figure this all out later. The roof isn't far."
He leads me around a bit more until we're on the top floor and he finds a specific door. He kicks the door down, revealing metal stairs, unlike the rest of the stairs in the building, which were white and matched the halls. We climb the stairs and find another door. Its locked. Of course. Because things just couldn't be easy. Caleman kicks the door but it doesn't budge.
"Well Dickie Boy, it would appear we have a problem. You wouldn't happen to have any bobby pins on you, would you?" I say.
He snorts. "What are you gonna do, pick the lock?"
"Sure why not?"
"Do you even know how?" He demands.
I shrug. " I don't know what I know. So who knows maybe I do know because hey, you never know."
He stares at me for a moment, as if trying to make sense of what I just said. "Well what I do know is I don't have any bobby pins so this conversation was pointless." His eyes narrow at me as if its my fault.
