"Would you just shut the F up please!" Seriously, you're driving me insane. I get it! You were right. I was wrong. As always. No need to rub it in." Daniel just glares at me in return.

As of right now, we just so happen to be sitting on a dark, gravel, creepy, foresty, dark road in the middle of a huge rain forest which is basically in the middle of nofreakingwhere.

With his back to me, he turns raises his hands in defense,"Tani, chill. No one is attacking you. We just got ourselves into a bit of a situation. It's normal for one to get a bit short tempered, I'm sorry, but you gotta chill."

I swear, hes freaking perfect. He never loses his cool, all the girls like him, all the guys like him, he's smart, athletic, kind, tall... like for real? And I'm the complete opposite. Well, kind of. I mean we look the same, I'm just the shorter, ruder, dumber one of this twinship.

"Okay... sorry." I roll my eyes. Daniel just 'loves' when I roll my eyes.

"We come on this sweet little trip to Burundi to help the poor little poverty stricken African children, and its blowing up in our faces! Its almost as bad as living in rockfor--"

"Tani. Please stop shouting." And what does Daniel do next? Daniel walks off. Daniel doesn't tell me what he's doing. Daniel doesn't tell me where he's going. Daniel just walks on down the road like nothings wrong when in reality we're in like a dangerous country. "What? So now you're just gonna leave me here? Alone?" I shout out to him, but once again, am ignored. He makes me so angry. The worst part is that I know sitting here staring at the smoking car engine isn't going to get us anywhere, so I have no choice but to follow.

I stare at the ground as I walk. What a loser.

I snap my head up in the direction of the forest on the left side of the road. I thought I heard something, and as absurd as it might sound, it sounded like a spitball.

I mean, I would know because my sixth hour english teacher made the mistake of putting me right behind Daniel and I kind of took advantage of that opportunity... just a little.

I hear it again, but this time I feel it. I pull a small object off of my neck. It looks a little like a spitball, its small and black and has a little spikey thingy on it. I reach back up to my neck where it hit me and pull back a hand of blood. I look at my shirt and see a small trickle running down my chest and onto my shirt. It's really comming out. It doesn't hurt though.      Huh.

I hear it again, but this time I feel it on the back of my neck. I feel dizzy.

Ahead of me Daniel drops. Falling into an unnatural position on the dusty gravel road.

"Daniel!"

I stagger forward fighting the heavy cloud that seems to be floating just above me trying to envelop and pull me into whatever oblivion happens to be within. My feet feel like bowling balls. Scratch that. What's heavier then bowling balls? Cement blocks. My feet feel like cement blocks. The weight of my body turns my breathing heavy, and my eyes begin to droop.

Each step bbecomes more agonizingly painful, but after what seems like an eternity passes, I kneel down next to Daniel's collapsed body.
I think there are tears streaming down my face, but I'm having a hard time focusing, so I can't really tell. My body feels numb and i can't seem to get my fingers to work. I try to focus in on Daniel. Daniel was hit only once; on his neck. That must have been the first shot that I heard.

I quickly pull the spit ball thing out of his neck and throw it to the side. Slapping his cheeks I yell,"Daniel! Daniel please."
My vision blurs with tears not yet shed.

"Daniel wake up. We have to get help. Daniel!"

I sob uncontrollably.

Checking his pulse, I try to tell whether he's breathing or not. Behind us there's a loud rumbling. Thunder? If it rains I'll have to drag Daniel back to the car. I don't know if I'd make it.

My thoughts are getting jumbled and I'm having a hard time focusing- telling the difference between reality and imagination.

I turn and see a huge army truck racing toward us. So it wasn't thunder. Shrieking, I try to move Daniel out of the road, but my strength is fleeting.

The cloud around me gets closer, as does the truck. My lungs inhale and exhale as if they're going to explode. I can't breathe. The truck stops just a few feet behind us, and a sophisticated, kind looking woman gets out. Eyes widening, she runs over. I try to explain, but I feel the cloud thicken and push its way down my throat keeping me from speaking. She summons some men out of her truck. I fight to see whats going on, but the cloud continues to drag me down.

I have a strange feeling though, Safe? I feel safe. My head explodes in fireworks of pain.

In case you're new, I had already published this story about a year ago, and have been updating ever since. After reading through the content, I decided that is would be best if I tweaked a few things. There may or may not be major plot changes coming up. I started writing this when I was fourteen, but didn't start really updating until I turned fifteen. I've realized that while fourteen year old/fifteen year old me had some semi decent content, it wasn't my greatest work. Sorry for any problems!

So what do you guys think? Is Tani really safe? What will happen to her and her brother? Where are they taking them?

I am very excited to hear your thoughts and input!
