After the Coronation, all of the Pevensies, Charlotte and Caspian met up before the parade.
They walked over to the lineup and everyone but Charlotte got on a horse. Charlotte wasn't sure where she was supposed to be, so she started to walk back to where Trumpkin and the Professor were. As she started walking towards them, dodging and weaving around other citizens, she heard her name being yelled.
"Charlotte." Peter called from the front, behind Caspian. She turned around.
"Hm? Who called?" She asked looking around, curious.
"I did." Peter said. He waved his arm, signalling for her to come up to the front. She turned fully around so that she was now facing the king, and starting walking up to him.
"You summoned, Your Majesty." She said looking up at him. He raised an eyebrow.
"Your Majesty?" He asked, with a slight smirk.
"Yes, it's a term of respect." She said.
"You don't have to call me that." He says to her.
"I know." She said with a soft smile. He rolled his eyes playfully.
"Anyways." The girl changed the subject, rocking on her heels.
"You called?"
"Ah yes." He said hopping down from his horse.
"I was wondering if you would like to accompany me, in the parade?" He asked, kindly.
"But i'm not royalty." She said.
"You are to me." Peter said solemnly, causing her to smile.
"You always have been." He finished.
"Thank you." Charlotte cracked a grin.
"Of course I will join you. It would be an honor" She said. He quickly, and eagerly hopped up on the horse once again. Peter extended his arm and pulled her up, behind him.
"Why are you so nice to me?" She asked him. He shrugged, not sure how to answer.
"I don't deserve your kindness." She said again.
"I can turn it around on you too, you know." He said.
"How?" The girl, questioned.
"You have had plenty of reasons to go off on me, but you didn't."
"True." She laughed.
"You are too cute." He said. She wrapped her arms around his waist, and laid her head on his back. The young king looked at her, and could tell that the girl laying on him was about to fall asleep. He kept staring at her, content, when the sound of clomping caught his attention.
"It's starting." Peter told her, after a moment.
"But i'm so comfortable." The girl fake whined.
"Five more minutes?"
He instantly regretted telling her, when she sat up, removing her embrace. She looked over Peter's shoulder to see the little children start running, with baskets of flower petals. Charlotte couldn't help but laugh at the little kids joy, and glee. They all looked so happy. As they started down their route, the sides of the street were packed with citizens hoping to see their new king. Flags were waving, in all of the kingdoms colors. Petals, and confetti were raining down from people looking out their windows. Everyone seemed so happy to be relieved, of such a terrible king as Miraz.
Flowers and greenery, were strung along the walls, and ledges. All of the Narnians waved happily, and Caspian's eyes wandered the crowd.
"All hail King Caspian!" Citizens screamed. This made him smile. Charlotte could tell, everything was right with Narnia. The closer they got to the castle though, the quieter the cheers got. They entered the gates, and automatically started to turn into the stalls. When Charlotte realized it was the end of the parade, so got excited. The second they pulled into the stables, Charlotte jumped off the horse. She picked up the edges of her skirt, as not to trip, and started running. As she passed the professor, she reminded him.
