Fairy Tail x Reader: One Year

A/N: CONTAINS SPOILERS SO WATCH OUT! So this takes place after the Tartaros arc when Natsu leaves and *Spoiler maybe* the guild is disbanded. Basically, you're there and all but it's kind of like more on NaLu after Natsu left..like.. you're not romantically involved but you're kinda the middle man for the NaLu. THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS GUYS SO DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE TARTAROS ARC! Sorry if it sucks. I've had writers block lately and I'm seriously trying to get over it but it's hard. So honestly I apologize for any mistakes and such in this!

You remembered when he left.

How could you not?

You had been walking down the streets after the battle to make sure everyone in the guild was alright when you came upon Lucy, who was in the middle of the road on her knees sobbing her eyes out. When you finally got her back to her house and not crying as much, you gave her a concerned look.

"Lucy, what's the matter? Everyone is okay." You had told her reassuringly.

"N-Natsu!" The blonde female had cried, her entire body shaking as she attempted to stop sobbing so hard, but it only caused her body to rack violently.

"What about Natsu?" You had asked, looking at her worriedly. Why was she crying about Natsu? He was okay, right? You knew he had had trouble with the death of Igneel, but he himself was okay. Wasn't he? A letter had been shoved in your face, and the first thing you noticed was the bad hand writing. After that, you actually paid attention to the words and gasped in surprise. Natsu was leaving for a year? What about Lucy? He just left her? Honestly you were surprised. Natsu leaving Lucy was something you had never fathomed. They were a team. Natsu never went anywhere without her, so why was he suddenly just leaving her? And you... and the guild... it broke your heart to think about it.

"W-Why is he leaving?" She had cried - which was a rhetorical question because it clearly stated in the letter he was going to train for a year.

After that, Fairy Tail had been disbanded and you felt guilty because no one could find or contact Natsu to tell him of the news. There is no way the hot-headed mage would come back from his trip thinking the disbanding of Fairy Tail could happen. You yourself hopped around, going on jobs here and there (even if you weren't in a guild, everyone knew you had been a Fairy Tail member and to them in their hearts, just like yours, Fairy Tail was still a guild).

Wendy went to Lamia Scale, which was a little bit of a surprise, but you hadn't tried to stop her. Fairy Tail was no more. The young girl needed something to be stable for her without the guild. Lucy was a writer for Sorcerers Weekly, and you had met up with her plenty to make sure she was okay. You had once had a conversation with her about why she didn't join another guild or why she didn't go on missions. You knew plenty of guilds (Lamia Scale, Blue Pegasus, and even Sabertooth) had told her she was more than welcome there. Actually, Sting had practically begged her to join Sabertooth (later you had found out that it was because he wanted to keep an eye on you, not wanting to be the one to face Natsu's wrath if anything happened to Lucy while he had been away).

Though when you asked her about her choice of career, she had looked at you with a sad gaze in her brown eyes.

"It's not the same without Natsu. I don't think I could ever fight again without him here. And now that Fairy Tail has disbanded..." The blonde had trailed off, tears prickling in the corners of her eyes. "He's my partner, (Y/n), and I can't go out without him."

"You can go with me. I know it's not the same, but we can be badass together! Go kick some bad guys' faces in. I'm not as destructive as Natsu either, so we'll get the money's worth." You had suggested, only trying to cheer her up.
