Getting to the airport, Norman pulls Emily theough crowds of people- why are they leaving from a Canadian airport? Because they feel it will mask their escape.
Sitting on a bench, Emily waits for Norman to come back with their tickets to God knows where. Her heart ia still heavy from all her imaginations undoing. But Norman seems normal...as normal as Norman could ever be. So looking at her phone, she can't imagine where he could be planning their trip. France? England? Australia? Japan? Italy? It could be any of those places, even though Norman has been to all of them. Emily has only been to Canada- how lame does she feel right now? Two feet appear in her line of view and she looks up at Norman holding their tickets.
"Where are we going?" She asks curiously and he smiles and wags his fonger at her.
"It's a surprise."
"Why?" That knocks the smile right off of his face. She's been sorta different the last few days. Maybe it's her wrist bothering her? Or maybe she is having a visit from.... Oh he doesn't want to think about that.
"Because. Come on." He turns and heads to the gate and she follows him. He hands the tickets to the gate person and they board the plane. Sitting in first class, Daryl lets Beth have the window seat, hoping it will cure her mood. He puts their bahs in the over head bin and plops down next to her, planting a kiss on the top of her head as he buckles up. "I love you."
"Love you too." That's odd. The last few days she's just been saying 'love you' not 'I love you'. Is she changing her mind about how she feels about him? He just faces forward and waits for the rest of the plane to board. It's annoying how these games keep being played. One minute she loves him the next minute she acts like she could careless. Maybe this trip isn't as great of an idea as he thought.
"This is your Captain speaking- we will be leaving Montreal shortly, please have a nice flight amd thank you for flying Montreal Airway."
Looking at her phone, she's going through Instagram and notices that quite a few of Norman's pictures are with Melissa. It annoys her to no end. Why won't he take pictures with her and post them? He only took one real photo with her and put it on Twitter and even then it wasn't satisfying. Even when they were at Comic Con last year, he tooks photos, but he never actually posted them. It hurts her. Why? Turning her phone off, she slides it into her pocket and glances out the window. Marriage won't change anything between them. Eloping. Marriage. Moving in together. Nothing will bring them closer. Nothing will gap the bridge between their ages. And nothing will change who is more important to whom. Norman can have who ever he wants- he insists he wants Emily- but maybe it's just another game? Emily will never know.
"Are you excited?" He asks and she gives him a small nod with a smile. "You okay?"
"I'm fine Norman!" She allows some frustration to flow from her lips and the cabin goes quiet. "Sorry..."
Looking into his lap, he folds his hands and feels like a bad dog. He was just wondering why she's been so mean lately. It's not hia fault she won't say anything to him. She won't tell him what's bothering her.
As their flight continues across the vast open sky, Emily listens to music as Norman plays his PSP. He really is a child at heart and he just doesn't understand why his favprite person in the world is mad at him. When the flight attendant comes around, she offers wine and Norman takes two glasses. He lightly elbows Emily and she wants to snap, until she sees him holding two glasses of Rosé wine with a small smile on his face. Taking her headphones out, she turns her music off and takes a glass.
"Thanks." They clink glasses and sip their drinks.
"Emmy, did I do something wrong? If I did, please, tell me. I want to make it better so we have a good vacation." He cups her free hand and pleads with his eyes.
"No..."
"Then what is it?" He looks deep in her eyes and he sees that the sparkle that was once in her eyes, has disappeared.
"It's stupid."
"Tell me, please." He holds her hand slightly tighter and kiss the back of it. Looking at him, Emily can see that he must really love her, but how come he doesn't want to take pictures with her and do things like he does with Melissa or his other girlfriends.
"I'm over reacting..."
"Emily."
"I wanna be on Instagram and Twitter with you." His eyes blink once. Twice. Three times. His face is expressionless and Emily covers her face in her hoodie.
"What does that even mean?"
"I want you to post photos of me and you like you do of you and Melissa and all those other girls." She sort of whines and his blank face stays emotionless. Is she really that childish?
"Yer seriously that jealous cause I posted a picture of Melissa and I vaping?"
"Not just that one picture. All the pictures. Everybody is pro Caryl and they expect you two to be a thing even in real life...it's like... It's like I'm not good enough..."
"Because I don't post pictures of you and I?" She looks down and Norman takes a deep breath to calm down. He's never heard something so ridiculous. "Em, first off- I come to all your shows. Fuck Caryl or Bethyl- those canons don't matter. You never post pictures of you and I. You post tons of photos of you and your manager which always have you kissing him. It's not like I'm posting my pictures to make you feel terrible or anything. I post them cause they're fun memories. If you want to be in my posts then be in my posts, but that means we're not a secret any more. It's whatever you want to do."
She looks at her hands and feels like a bitch. She is childish.
"I'm sorry..."
"It's fine." He growls and she lifts the arm rest that's between them and slides closer to him. Wrapping her arms around him, she kisses his neck and he calms down.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
