California.
Cold late fall night.
Driver of 1969 black Impala passes out at the wheel..only to come to from a horn being blared out before her.
Driver of Impala swerve to miss the on coming transfer truck...breaks are hit, screaming tires are now silent at the bottom of a 14 foot embankment..69 Impala over turned, wheels still smoking & rolling to a complete stand still..
Music is blaring loudly to AC/DC Highway To Hell..No movement inside the over turned 69 Impala.
"Miss, help is on the way." A voice comes through darkness of the mind.
Screaming sounds of the sirens stop close by..
"Down here!!" She is down here!!" The same voice that came through darkness said as he tried giving his statement of the wreck and how it wasn't his fault.
Bright white light, so bright it burnt the eyes as it switched from one eye to the other. Blinking to make the burning eyes water so to be able to focus.
Too much going on to focus on one thing.
Pressure on the chest, yelling demands of other people.. Then hearing two metal doors being closed loudly..Siren screaming loudly for drivers to get out of the way..
Came to, to read the bright sign that spelled (Hospital)..What hospital..no one is saying.
"Who's on call tonight?" A woman yells as the sound of a baby crying covers her yelling.
(I am the one rushed to the hospital, but why? I'm in no pain, I'm sure I will walk out in a few hours.)
But the nurses are looking at me like it is bad..real bad..
"Dr.Holden is on call tonight, he is in the ER room 121." Another voice from behind a desk yells back.
"Christopher." I spurted out.
"Miss, who is Christopher?"It was only you in the car tonight." The female police officer said as she had to walk fast to keep up with the gurney going to ER.
"Sorry officer, you can not go any further." Male nurse said as he pushed the police officer back.
She gets on her walkies-talkie that hung on her shoulder.
"Have the officers on scene search for a male, possibly in wreck with driver of 69' Impala..Name is Christopher, could have been thrown out of the car." Female officer said as she looked at me through closed glass doors.
"Dr.Holden, the female has been shot and in a car wreck..We already lost her once." A female voice said.
"What is her name?" A male voice asked from my left.
Focus....just focus..can't though..The pain is coming through my drugged up mind..Feeling more pain than anyone person should endure..Yet I try to focus on the one to my left..His eyes so blue...icy blue..
Pain is now leaving me..I do not recall pain medication being giving to me.
"Don't you die on me..not tonight.." It is not your time." He said with determination embedded in his to die for eyes.
"Talk to me, What is your name love?" Who is Christopher?" Boyfriend, husband..son maybe?" He asked as I repeated the name he asked about..
Felt the smile cross my lips as I focused on his handsome voice that sounded foreign.
Tried to speak more, but it was more of a battle to breathe let alone talk..Turned to cough..Blood, dark blood splattered the nurse on the right side of me..Slowly raised a hand to wipe the wetness off my mouth, drew back a blood covered hand before looking to my male doctor who I could not see fully since he wore a face mask..
But his eyes told me everything..His expression told me he was loosing this battle..Then determination set back in him as he crawled on the gurney with me..Nurse gives him the paddles to shock me..Doesn't work fast enough to suit him, so he takes it upon himself to beat my chest on his own..
I should have felt his pounding on my chest, but never felt the assault..Many times he does this as he keeps looking to the blinking machine before turning his attention back to me one last time.
If I were going to die, I wanted to see his face fully before I go.
He raises his arms once again to hit my chest, but my actions stop him..as I reached up to remove his mask and touch his nicely trimmed beard.
His face goes blank as the sound from machine tells of a Flat-line has occurred..
Shook my head from right to left.
"It's time." I say as he tries to understand what I am saying before everything goes black one last time.
