Chapter 3

Hakeem

"Aye boss we gotta go drop a load off Ina min" my homeboy Shawn said.

"Nigga you can do that shit on your own. You know I gotta go take Kaden to school"

"Maaaaan alright bitch" he said.

"Get a cap bussed in that ass" I warned.

He waved me off and walked out the door. I've been a drug dealer since I was 16 years old. Yes Im a detective but that's just a cover up for when my parents come to visit me or calls my job. I'm the boss now. My older brother Reese was the boss but he pasted away. He passed it onto me. I miss him man. He was the only man I looked up to. R.I.P. Bro.

I got up from my seat and grabbed my keys. Today was Kaden first day back to school so I had to make sure he was there on time. I got into my all black 2015 all black Range Rover and drove off to my house. Kaden was there with Adriana the nanny. It took me 15 mins to get to my house. I got out and opened my door Kaden book bag was sitting on the floor by the door.

I walked to the kitchen where I heard Kaden and Adrianna laughing.

"Wassup y'all" I said

"Hey" they said in unison

"You took your medicine?" I asked Kaden.

He nodded his head.

"Ready to go?"

He nodded and ate the last of his oatmeal. I walked over to Adrianna and gave her $500. I pay her everyday she's here with Kaden.

"Uncle wait!" Kaden screamed.

"Man Watchu screamin like that for?"

"Sorry" he whispered.

"But I forgot to pray to daddy" he said looking up at me.

"You right let's go" I said grabbing his hand.

We walked down to the room where my brother ashes were. He sat right in front of the vase and bowed his head.

"Hi daddy. I know you miss me because I miss you soooooo much. Today my first day of school. I'm going to be in first grade. Yayyyy! But daddy can you please look after me cause kids can be real mean. But uhhh I gotta get going. I love you daddy. Ball in heaven how you was down here. Bye bye daddy!"

"Ready little man?"

He nodded his head and we walked out the door. He got in the back seat and hoped in his booster seat.

"You buckled in?"

"Yes uncle!" He said with excitement.

I nodded my head. It took us about 10 minutes to get to his school. I got out and opened Kaden's door and he hopped out. He grabbed my hand and we walked into his school. I walked him to his class and was greeted by his teacher.

"Hi my name is Ms.Murphy. What's your name cutie?" She asked.

"My name Hake-" I stopped when I noticed she was looking at me sideways.

"Oh you was talking to him" I said laughing.

"My name is Kaden and this is my uncle Hakeem" he said.

"Well it's nice meeting the both of you guys. You can go on in Kaden and find the cubby with your name on it" she said.

He nodded his head and began to walk away.

"No love for me. I'm hurt" I held my heart and he ran up to me and hugged my legs. I picked him up and he hugged my neck and kissed my cheek. "I love you little man"
