I woke up and looked at the clock that hung in my room. 4:00 AM. I stood up and decided it would be a good idea to walk around and get some fresh air. I grabbed a Red Bull and locked my door behind me as I stepped out of my apartment. It was cold and quite. The only noise I could hear was the patter of my feet and the wind ringing in my ear.
I must have been walking for a really long time because a new sound suddenly started to fill the air. It was the sound of drums playing to the familiar beat of Heavydirtysoul. Josh, what are you doing up so late? I looked up at his apartment and wondered how his neighbors tolerated him. I laughed at the thought and decided I might as well visit him since he's up. So I took the shortcut that he only lets me use to get in, the fire escape. I climbed up the ladder and knocked on the window of his room. He looked rather shocked, but that soon melted into joy as he walked over to open the window for me. As soon as the window was open, I hopped into the warm home of my best friend. Josh ruffled with my hair and sat back down at his drum set, lightly tapping random beats to non-existent songs. I sat in silence as I listened to my red-haired friend practice his drums.
I have never practiced as much as Josh. Every instrument I played always came so easily to me, so I didn't have to practice as much. I was jealous of Josh for that, but I knew he was jealous of how easily music came to me. I played with the strings of my hoodie until Josh suddenly stopped playing his drums.
"You wanna talk about it?" He suddenly asked, his back towards me,
"I-uh don't know what you're talking about..." Josh turned around in his seat,
"Tyler, I'm your best friend. I know you."
"I'm fine Josh. I really don't know what you're ta-" Josh interrupted me
"Tyler. If you were fine, we would probably be drinking about 10 Red Bull's while jumping off the walls."Josh walked over to his couch and sat down, " But you're just sitting on the floor listening to me practice the drums. You, Tyler Joseph, are not fine." Josh looked straight into my eyes, waiting for me to respond. Tears welled up in my eyes as Josh expanded his arms for me. I ran right into his arms as my tears stained Josh's shirt and my back shook, "He's dead, Josh, Brian's dead. He's gone, he's not coming back and I don't know what to do!" Josh rubbed my shaking back as he whispered in my ear, "Shhh, it's okay Tyler. I'm here for you, always."
~
I finally stopped crying and was curled in Josh's arms. He never stopped rubbing my back as I fell asleep again. I honestly wouldn't have cried that much if it weren't for Josh; it's all his fault. He was so concerned for me and he knows me more than anyone I know. I want to be with him forever, making music and touring the world. My thoughts were suddenly broken as I felt someone carrying me. I opened my eyes to see Josh carrying me to his bed. I was too tired to smile as I saw Josh pulling the covers over me and sat down next to me. Just when I was about to sleep again, I felt Josh's hand brush my hair causing me to blush. I tried to slyly put the covers over my face, but this action alerted Josh that I was awake. He laughed under his breath as he stood up to leave. I grabbed his arm and pulled him back to where he was previously sitting.
"Ty, whatcha doing? I'm going to sleep on the couch so you can-" I interrupted him.
"No, Joshie! I don't want you to go! Sleep here with me" Josh looked like he just saw a puppy as his face matched the color of his face. He slipped into the spot on the bed next to me and continued to brush his fingers through my hair. I then fell asleep.
AN: Sorry this chapter is so short... I tried to add some fillers to make this chapter longer, but that still didn't work :/ The next chapter is going to be in Josh's perspective so look forward to that!
Anyways, stay bright my friends! :3
