Chapter 14- The date night

 

The day of their date Shawn was very tensed, he won't stop asking of his looks and stuff. After assuring him of the zazillionth time that he was looking 'okay' I dropped him off at the restaurant where they were supposed to meet. And went wandering around the town with his car. Then later I picked him up from his date.

"How did it go?" I asked eagerly.

"Good." He replied looking sad.

"What's wrong?"

"She is Luke's sister,"  So that's why the name sounded so familiar....  "He came to pick her up and told me to stay away from her."

" What?!" I said already getting angry for someone breaking Shawn's heart like this. "Is this why you're sad?" I finally finished.

"Kinda." He said, looking even sadder now.

"Don't worry I'll fix this." I said as I hugged him. He was so close to breaking down, showing he really liked her. I could not bear the sight of my best friend crying. Shawn dropped me off home.

When I got free I called Luke to ask if he was free to s meet, when he said he was, we met, he picked me up and we went to an ice cream parlour. He talked first.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" He asked placing our orders.

I straightly replied, "Shawn."

"Yeah, what about him?" He asked innocently.

"Why did you tell him to stay away from Abby?" I said getting impatient.

"Because he is a player and I don't want my sister's heart broken." He simply replied.

This time I softened  a little and said,"please trust me. I know Shawn... He is a man of letters. He really likes Abby. And she's the only girl he ever liked in his entire life. The other girls threw themselves at him, sacrificed themselves kinda, but this time it's Shawn who's willing to do anything, just for Abby. Just trust me when I say this, that Shawn really likes Abby. Give him a chance." I finished.

His expression changed from protective to relaxed, as if reflecting that he understood.

"Okay," he finally said,"but if he breaks her heart, he will be dead. Really, I will kill him. And I am believing you with this only because I trust your judgement."

"Thank you." I said gratefully. And then left on my own as it was only a small walk from home.
