The pounding got louder and harder and soon the sound of the door breaking made me jump and bite back a shriek.

Holy shit.....

Before I could process anything, I felt something large and heavy fall on top of me. I slid down onto my back because of the sudden movement. My head snapped up and I saw Zeke's on top of me. Not a single part of me was out in the mid open. I stared up at him in confusion but he just stared at me with fear.

His usual smug look wasn't showing and instead it was replaced by a look I've never imagined he would wear. You'd think he would always be strong and cocky, but at this moment he looked as if he was about to shit himself.

I felt a pain in my chest. He was trying to protect me.

The footsteps got closer. My heart started beating erratically and I felt my eyes water up. I've never realized what it would feel like if I was on the verge of death, but now I know. I felt nauseous and as scared as hell.

My glasses began to fog up as I stared up at Zeke. His eyes were glossy and a tear escaped from his eye. He slowly reached up and gently took my glasses off of my face and laid them down next to my head. He leaned forward and kissed my cheek with his soft lips.

They lingered there for a few seconds. His lips felt soft against my skin. It made my whole face feel as if it was on fire. I wouldn't be surprised if I was blushing at the moment. I mean what do you expect? I've never got kissed on the cheek by a guy before. It felt so foreign but good at the same time.

When he pulled away we stared at me with an expression I couldn't decipher. He rubbed his thumb over the tear that was rolling down my cheek. When the footsteps were right by the desk, he buried his face into my neck and put all his weight on me.

I could feel him shaking on top of me and his heart beat was beating rapidly, faster than my own. The footsteps halted, not far from us. Zeke turned his head so that he was able to see the opening of the desk. My breath got caught in my throat when I saw a gun pointing straight at Zeke.

I couldn't see Zeke's face, but I could imagine what it looked like.

"Well, well, well. Look who we have here." the guy's voice sent chills down my spine.  "Zeke Anderson."

Okay, now I'm confused. Who the hell is this guy and how does he know Zeke?

"Kris....." Zeke gritted out. "I didn't expect to see you here." Zeke's voice was shaking. No doubt that it was because of the gun pointing straight at him.

"Who've you got there?" he asked. Zeke tried shielding me so that Kris wouldn't be able to see me. "Is she that ugly?" He chuckled darkly.

Zeke launched himself at the man. A loud gunshot echoed throughout this room. I let out a shriek, expecting to see Zeke on the floor with blood pooling around his chest, but instead I saw him pinning Kris against the wall. I looked down at the floor and saw the gun laying on the linoleum floor.

Knowing the Kris was going to go for it again, I quickly picked up the gun. Since I don't know how to shoot with good aim and Zeke was in the way, I can't shoot the guy because I'll most likely kill Zeke instead. Zeke threw a punch at Kris' face.

I finally got a view of the man. He was the same height as Zeke, about 5'11", he has brown shaggy hair, sharp jaw line, and a pointy nose. He was wearing a black leather jacket similar to Zeke's, a navy blue tee, and black jeans. Blood dribbled down from his nose as Zeke threw another blow to his jaw. I would go break up the fight, but that guy deserves to die. Him and whoever he's here with killed a lot of people.
