Ash's P.O.V
A loud familiar scream woke me up. I jumped out of the chair I was napping in and looked ahead of me to see Meghan running towards the door...which was right next to me.
I stepped in front of the door and caught her by the shoulders, standing completely still and immovable as she cursed, struggled, screamed, and even pounded on my chest. After a few minutes of struggling she gave up and sagged against my chest. I slowly let go of her shoulders and immediately she slumped to the ground, landing on her knees. My heart ached to see her in so much pain but who knows what she would have done or where she would have gone if she had gotten pass me.
I kneeled down in front of her, trying to look at her face which was being covered by her messy but cute dirty blonde hair.
"Meghan?" I asked, seeing how she reacted to my voice. No reaction. I waited a moment to see if she would move before holding out a hand to her. Almost immediately, she pushed it away but didn't move an inch after that.
"Get away from me, Ash," She muttered, her words not surprising me. "I'm no good to you or Puck. Just..." She drew in a shaky breath, still staring at the ground. "Please. I don't want to hurt you."
I put a finger under her chin and tilted her face up so her puffy red eyes could meet mine.
"You could never hurt me." I say, my silver eyes never breaking eye contact with her blue ones.
" No? Well, I could cause pain upon you. These people? They don't give a damn about you, or Puck. They don't care about me. They could do things to you that I bet you can't even imagine and they will do it if I can't follow the simple rule that they've given me. " She huffed and knocked my finger off, standing up and turning away from me.
I stood up after her and watched as she took a couple steps away from me and wrapped her arms around herself. Irritation itched at me from her last words.
"Simple?" I said. "Meghan, what about this is simple to you? " I say. No answer and no movement.
"Look at me." I say, trying not to sound as hostile as I was feeling. "Meghan, look at me please." She slowly turned around, her innocent starry blue eyes staring into mine.
"Let me help, Meghan. You know how I was trained back in Faery, you know what I'm capable of." I say, watching as a tear slipped down her face, as she rolled her eyes and quickly swiped it off.
"You don't understand, Ash. They have a-"
"Army?" I cut her off. I walked towards her and cupped her face in my hands softly. Her blue eyes searched my face and she held her breath. "I have Goodfellow and Devin, I won't be fighting alone." I say, lightly stroking her cheek with my thumb. "And you. Your not just a beautiful damsel in distress anymore, Meghan. If you would just stand up for yourself, for us? We will get past this, Meghan."
"Ash, I-" She stooped abruptly, backing out of my grip and looking down at her wrist. I followed her gaze to see what looked to be a watch, and on it said 'You have until the Red-Head gets back. It's really fun seeing there reactions together.'
She sighed and looked back up to me. "Is that them?" I asked. She scanned my face before meeting my eyes again.
"Yes."
"Meghan-"
"I can't give you what you want, Ash!" She yelled, backing away from me some more. "Okay? I'm sorry I ruined our perfect vacation, and I'm sorry that I'm putting you and Puck through all this stress. Just...this person, these people, they are not someone I can stand up to alone."
"So, let me help you, Meghan. Let us all help you, you know we can do it yet you hesitate anyways. What is stopping you?"
"Your life is on the line, Ash!" She yelled, staring at me while tears brimmed the edges of her eyes. "Your life, and Puck's life. If we were to do this, if we somehow messed up, Ash...if something were to go wrong. Your blood would be on my hands and I can't take that." She never broke eye contact, tears now falling down her face.
For a while, we just stood there gazing into each other's eyes. Both of us out of words to say, until a door opening made Meghan look away.
"Puck." She says, wiping the tears off her face.
I turn around to see Puck shoot me a certain look before smiling at Meghan.
"I see your awake. How's the arm?" He asked, walking a little closer to her.
"It's good, actually. The, um, pain is gone for now. It comes back every like 5 minutes." She answered, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Ah." Puck breathed. "That is what this is for." He pulled a shot out of his leather pocket and waved it in front of his face with a smile. Meghan smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Where's Devin?" She asked, changing the subject for now.
"Last I checked, he was out in the hallway, waiting. He had to take Johnathan away earlier since we were handling you." I said.
"Johnathan? He was there? Who in the hell took him?" Meghan almost yelled, attitude changing in a heartbeat. No answer from me nor Puck. "Fine, it's decided then. I'm leaving now."
